Kinderzimmer Productions - seit 30 Jahren unterwegs im Auftrag ewiger Jugend und Glückseligkeit
“On the Mission of Eternal Youth and Bliss” is a joyful singularity and a groundbreaking album. The starting point is HipHop, as it was understood in Germany in 1996. The ingredients are: sampled beats, DJing, flow, rhymes, bravado, attitude, battle, party, politics, bravado, and bullshit. But in a children's room in Ulm at the time, completely different results were achieved with the same starting point than the colleagues. The joy of play is virtually limitless. HipHop as a portal to infinite expanses:
Jazz of the 60s, sci-fi series, comics, country, classical thrash metal, pop hits, literature, and off-grid indie – everything gets taken apart, twisted, turned, and reassembled, musically and verbally. It shouldn't exist like this, yet here it is. The whole thing is madness and method, and the greater the temporal distance to the year of creation, the clearer it becomes. It's childishly simple and deadly serious at the same time.
To call these 44 minutes and 57 seconds of music a “work” would be pretentious. But it is also not a loose collection of pieces. It is not a manifesto – more a mission report. Everything is logically structured, thought out, and coherent. And it feels so light and associative, as if it just came to mind; one can giggle while thinking about it and cry while dancing to it. A large part of what was relevant in the 90s in the world and in Germany is negotiated here – much of it has now disappeared. For example, the idea that HipHop is not a style but a method and an attitude, a way of moving. Kinderzimmer Productions have fully embraced this way of moving and provided proof that this approach works even under the most adverse and peculiar circumstances: there and then, now and here. One doesn't even have to be interested in HipHop to benefit from it, and one doesn't even have to know German to understand something about it.
Kinderzimmer Productions have never played “On the Mission of Eternal Youth and Bliss” live in full length because the necessary audio material was not completely available. For the Düsseldorf “Favorite Record Festival,” the band reconstructed the entire beats in a quasi media-archaeological way in 2025. Finally, Kinderzimmer Productions can play the album without having to stage themselves.
