Papis Pumpels - "Verrückt nach Schlager"
Verrückt nach Schlager
“Why do we play German Schlager? Well, that's actually quite simple: Because we have a blast doing it, and because we find at every concert that Schlager music brings just as much joy to our audience. And this joy cuts across all age groups: The grandchild rocks – or rather pumps – with the grandmother!”
For over a decade, Papi and his eight Pumpels have wowed their audience. Whether at countless concerts across the country, at special events like the legendary Schlager boats on Lake Constance, or at numerous television appearances - they spread their good mood and really heat things up for the audience.
The Pumpels are not a classic party or cover band. They reinterpret the Schlager hits of the 70s – they pump up the songs – and their performances have long evolved into a Schlager show with concert character. A Pumpel night is a colorful mix of high-quality music and plenty of action and fun on stage.
And for a significant number of people, a slumbering Schlager heart, unknown to them, has even been ignited. Those who don't believe it should just come to the next concert, see for themselves, and pump along vigorously.
The Repertoire
Well, how to best describe it? The Pumpels take their audience on a musical journey through the squeaky colorful Schlager world of the seventies. They practically ignite a festival of love. In an honorable house, one will find that Alice has found a new love there. And Conny Kramer notices during the last dance with Marie: Charly Brown, the guy with the Greek wine in his hand never wanted to grow up. Well, he was only 17 years old, had blonde hair, and preferred to dance barefoot in the rain. In Albany, on the other hand, it looks different. Because Josie lives there, catches the light, and sheds bitter tears (that don’t lie) because she will probably never make it to New York. Yet Papi did ask her: “Do you want to go with me?” Perhaps one day they will actually cross 7 bridges to a small tavern?
Whatever it is: As long as it becomes summer again and everyone loves Lake Constance.
... and watch out: Papi's Pumpels are not just fun-makers to look at. With the Pumpels, everyone pumps along!
The True Story of the Pumpels
On the evening when the band first met at Papi’s home, little Janis (Papi's son) crawled out of his little bed quite late - just like four-year-olds sometimes like to do. He then walked unsuspectingly into the living room and was quite astonished by the large number of strange, funny-looking characters in his cozy home. And so he immediately asked his mommy who all these men were. “Oh, those are just Papi's buddies!” Mommy said. That was okay for him, and he could retreat back to his Haja-Pupeja little bed. The next morning, he headed straight back to the living room to check out the whole situation with the strange, funny men again. But: There was no one left. And right away, Janis asked his mother: "Mommy, where are Papi’s Pumpels?"
Voilà, that’s it! Just make a “K” into a “P” more often and a gathering of funny people becomes a band with a very special name.
Quickly, the name “Pumpels” also gave rise to the corresponding “verb”:
Pumpeln! And one can now use it universally...
In this sense:
Let’s pump together!
