TRUCK STOP
„Schöne Bescherung“
Truck Stop celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2023. Only a few bands can look back on such a success story. They have continuously set milestones on their path to success. “We are proud of what we have achieved on our journey, and we are pleased that fans and the media have crowned us the most successful German country band of all time,” says proud founding member of the band, Teddy Ibing. A good reason to continue celebrating in 2024!
After five decades in the music business, the band can look back on a remarkable history. Truck Stop is a legend and an undisputed pioneer of German-language country music: The band has released more than 45 studio albums since 1973 and sold over 20 million recordings. With well over 6,000 concerts and festivals in Germany, Austria & Switzerland, the band has taken the stage. Simply unmistakable and that for three generations of country fans.
50 years of pure country!
Founded exactly on March 10, 1973, in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, Truck Stop, who initially presented their songs in English, soon played in the opening act for big names such as Johnny Cash, Fats Domino, and Chuck Berry. When they decided to switch to German lyrics at the end of the decade, they finally became the largest German country band of all time: Having already achieved gold records from their first German country album “Zu Hause,” numerous hits and unforgettable tours followed over the last 40 years, including chart-topping singles like “Der wilde, wilde Westen.” After celebrated shows in the U.S., massive successes in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as three Golden Tuning Forks, Truck Stop was ultimately inducted as the first German band into the Country Hall of Fame.
A special gift to all TRUCK STOP fans for 50 years of loyalty! For the first time in years, TRUCK STOP is celebrating Christmas time again with friends and fans together. On the tour “50 Jahre - Schöne Bescherung,” the band takes fans into their festive country world – sometimes emotional, sometimes rocking – and always very close to the audience.
“With this tour, we want to get our fans in the mood for the Christmas season. You won’t hear typical classic Christmas songs from us, but we've come up with a very special program – in our country style,” says Teddy Ibing, the man on drums and founding member of the band.
Of course, their unforgettable Christmas songs like “Erwin der dicke Schneemann” or “Kommt der Weihnachtsmann nach Texas” will be included – true country holiday feeling is guaranteed. But the hits from 50 years of Truck Stop will also be present, such as “Moin, Moin,” “50 Jahre,” or the beloved classics “Wilder Westen,” “Take it easy,” and “Ich möchte so gern Dave Dudely hör’n” to celebrate the Christmas season properly.
The “Schöne Bescherung Tour 2024” is a real Christmas highlight for all fans. Even though it hasn't always been easy for Truck Stop, solidarity, fairness, respect, and country music have always kept them together. No one is even thinking about stopping yet. Handcrafted, honest music - that’s the hallmark of the band for another 50 years!
Alongside the founding members of Truck Stop, Wolfgang “Teddy” Ibing (drums, entertainment) and Knut Bewersdorff (pedal steel, dobro, vocals, guitar), the frontman singer and guitarist Andreas Cisek, David Rick (lead guitar), Tim Reese (fiddle, guitar, banjo, and mandolin), and Uwe Frenzel (bass, accordion, choir) will also be on stage.
