Sweet Pill in June with a new album for five concerts live in Germany

It begins like an indie film about youthful carelessness and big dreams: five students from New Jersey buy an old school bus, outfitting it with bunk beds, and head to Texas. The goal: the legendary South by Southwest festival in Austin. But when Sweet Pill arrives there in 2020, the world is shutting down. Pandemic. Lockdown. The festival canceled. On the way back, the bus breaks down in Baton Rouge, and the band is stranded at the roadside for several days before they manage to get back to Philadelphia. A road movie without a happy ending – for now.

From this crash landing comes their debut "Where the Heart Is," recorded at Gradwell House studio with producer Matt Weber and released in 2021 by the emo institution label Topshelf Records. It is an album about closeness and departure, about the search for a home in a world that currently offers none. The song "High Hopes" even lands in the podcast of Hayley Williams, a knightly recognition from the Paramore universe. From then on, the audience grows organically, tour after tour, first as support for bands like La Dispute or The Wonder Years, later as headliners.

Live, Sweet Pill unleashes the power that can only be sensed on record. His double, Karsten Bald, founded the band in 2006, but has been involved in Panik science for more than 35 years: in 2003, he won the WAZ Double competition and was subsequently introduced by WDR to his idol during a soundcheck, and performed with Udo in front of 8000 people. By now, he is personally recommended by the master himself and sometimes steps in for the real Udo at after-show parties – like at the Echo in 2014. According to press reports, Karsten Bald is the best Udo Lindenberg double in Germany. His voice, gestures, and appearance are so authentic that he can hardly be distinguished from the original. His perfectly rehearsed band authentically, powerfully, and with great attention to detail interprets the most 'panic-like' songs of the master. Their expertise comes directly from the Panik Orchestra itself, as the Panik Power Band has a close relationship with Udo's band members, so that they sometimes even appear as surprise guests on stage.

UDOMAT & die Panikgenossen

UDOMAT & the Panikgenossen – Germany's biggest Udo Lindenberg tribute band. UDOMAT, who has been very successful since 2017 with his Udo Lindenberg DoubleSolo Show touring the Colorful Republic, founded the Panikgenossen in May 2018 together with keyboardist Thomas Jung. "The North Hessian Flexi Operation” A compilation of secret councilors who, when needed, present a show to the audience with the support of dancers and even a bartender, all in the spirit of Udo Lindenberg. The typical Lindenberg sound and performance is hardly distinguishable from the original during their 2-hour show. The band was able to celebrate their first success at the end of 2018 as they were awarded "Best Rock 'n Roll & Best Tribute Band in Germany" at the German Rock & Pop Prize in Siegen. Since April 2019, UDOMAT & the Panikgenossen have also had their very own children's choir called "PANIK KIDS" on board. In 2020/2021/2022, the band released 3 singles on the market. "ZU ZWEIT" "ALLES GEHT" and the ballad "BODYGUARD", released through their record label Fiesta Records. In 2021, the band was once again awarded the German Rock & Pop Prize as "Best Tribute Band" and in the main category as "Best Rock Band in Germany", where UDO LINDENBERG personally congratulated the band on their success. UDOMAT & the Panikgenossen perform the greatest and most spectacular songs by Udo Lindenberg and take all experts on a galactic journey. With the compass in hand... From North to South, from East to West with the special train... Beyond the horizon, over the Reeperbahn with Jonny Controletti and Dr. Feel Good and a good portion of Honky Tonky Show.
