Bernhard Hoëcker - Was vom Merken übrig blieb

For 25 years, standing on the theater boards of the Republic and having the seventh stage program ahead of him presents quite a few challenges for Bernhard Hoëcker. A mundane statistic about previous performances, audience numbers, kilometers traveled, etc., would be unworthy of him, and all cold coffee. If he were to approach the subject in pure numerical mysticism, he might stumble upon seven as a lucky number or the seventh letter of the Hebrew alphabet. There, 7 is Zayin, which means sword. This might bring him a bit closer to the essence, as Bernhard Hoëcker has been an advocate for witty comedy since 2001.
He has now filtered all of his previous programs – and like a beekeeper during honey extraction, he has centrifuged them, meticulously checking the material like a cave climber while rappelling and selecting the finest grain like a carpenter for the final touch. In doing so, he has distilled the essence: the honey is pure, the rope is in perfect order, and the wooden piece is a tactile highlight – and thus the seventh stage program presents itself as pristine and maximally authentic Hoëcker.
Now it gets exciting to see what he remembers after a quarter century and whether he can truly retain all of it. Because memory in old age is quite a matter, he himself remains curious if he has stayed young enough for it.
