DOD – the program that was so abruptly halted by the pandemic in March 2020 is experiencing a revival in Spring 2025. The few dates with this
program and also increasing inquiries led Gerd Dudenhöffer to contemplate a restart.

Graveyard bells. Sonorous. Gloomy. Suddenly cold white light. Heinz Becker comes home, from the funeral to the kitchen. In his black suit; 5 callas in hand: "I can forget those, to throw in the grave." Instead, they now lie on the kitchen table.

"Do you want another beer?" Obligatory - a lovable question – in the past life.
From now on, he must decide for himself. Familiar routine? Gone. Nothing is as it was. His everyday life –
collapses. Along with this sorrow. Troubling contemplativeness. This clumsy bewilderment. And slowly he begins to ponder, to reflect, to process ...
For over 30 years, Gerd Dudenhöffer has been playing, his sensitized-tuned ear directly aimed at bourgeois sensibilities, his real-satirical, grotesquely authentic art figure as a personified caricature of the narrow-minded, universal person like you and me, the Otto Normalverbraucher, whom he sharply exposes, with perfect timing, minimally set facial expressions, devoid of any political correctness, always naturally with hearty, often involuntary, because 'Heinz-typical' humor.
DOD – theatrical "Kabarett noir," stringently staged, black and white, light-dark, cleverly balancing between tragedy and comedy. Tragicomic indeed. Because Heinz is Heinz. 'Dead certain.

The Palatinate Gauleiter Josef Bürckel was one of the most powerful officials of National Socialism. Born in 1895, Bürckel volunteered in World War I. In 1921, he joined the NSDAP. He became Gauleiter of the "Saarpfalz" in 1926. Hitler, with whom he was always in direct contact and to whom he was unconditionally devoted, appointed him "Reich Commissioner for the Reunification of Austria with the Reich." From 1939 to 1940, he was Gauleiter in Vienna, where, in this role, he organized the mass deportations of Viennese Jews together with Adolf Eichmann starting in 1939.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the deportation of the Palatine Jews to Gurs, Peter Roos has now written a piece in which the colorful figure of Josef Bürckel is at the center with all its facets.
