We live in a time where often the packaging seems more important than the content: Every simple chocolate bar becomes an exclusive taste event through advertising, the janitor receives the title of Facility Manager instead of a pay raise, and love no longer leaps into our lives with Cupid's random arrow as it used to, but rather is tailored and algorithm-based through Tinder and Parship.
Lucy van Kuhl packages her insights in her fifth program also extremely skillfully: Absurd observations are wrapped in gentle piano sounds, tiny side notes are provided with a poetic magnifying glass, and the dreariness of a nursing home suddenly transforms into an exhilarating over-80 party through a coat of imagination.
Delicate melancholy meets crashing nonsense, classical piano meets boogie woogie: Lucy's overflowing imagination is a strong shining gift ribbon that she uses to effortlessly hold everything together and package it very skillfully.

Lucy Afarensis works at the fish counter in the SuperRiesen supermarket. Lucy lays out, Lucy weighs, Lucy types in, Lucy sticks on. From early to late, every day. And every day she is insulted as a Neanderthal woman by her supervisor for every mistake. When Lucy's Tupperware with her lunch is stolen during her morning bus ride to work, she wants to pursue the thieves and gets off the bus. Unintentionally

she embarks on a path that not only completely takes her out of her familiar life. Like in a whirlpool, she is drawn back through 4.6 billion years of human history to the beginning of life on planet Earth. And even further back to a perhaps new Big Bang. With humour and great poetry, Gwendoline Soublin tells in her play the story of a woman living under precarious conditions and the history of our planet Earth. The young director Julie Grothgar, who was chosen for her production "Das eingebildete Tier" by Valère Novarina at the Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim for the Nachtkritik theater meeting, makes her debut at the Theater Aachen.

In love at second glance. Enthusiastic at second glance. Compassionate at second glance. Disappointed at second glance. Many people, moments, and emotions we do not perceive correctly the first time. Lucy van Kuhl empathetically sings and comments on love, aging, people who are hardly noticed in our society, people who (unfortunately) are too much noticed, situations we have gotten ourselves into and from which it is difficult to escape in her new program "Auf den zweiten Blick." And she poses the question, "When was the last time I did something for the first time?" because a second, third, or sixth look at our life routine is worth it. The first look is the intuitive one; the second glance can be the special one.
