Georg Kreisler's revealingly wicked chanson "When the Circus was in Flames" is the namesake and inspiration for the new program of the Nuremberg chansonnier Roman Söllner.

Roman Söllner – always someone else on stage, but always a sharp observer of the small and big things in everyday life. To this end, he selects appropriate and often unknown pieces from the vast repertoire of cabaret and vaudeville music, presenting them in finely developed characters into which he masterfully slips.

Socially critical, dark, and comedic chansons by Kreisler, Hollaender, Kurt Weill, Max Raabe, Mischa Spoliansky, Franz Schubert, and John Kander: A sawed-off lady sings about her unrequited love, the strongest man in the world actually wants to be something entirely different, and a fortune teller is tormented by ominous dreams that come true. This is a practice ball, aimed at newcomers to the scene to experiment with the different categories.

Biography
Klaus Hübner is an actor, director, cabaret artist, composer, and musician. He is a member of the musical Dada quartet "Chaotic Strings," which has remained unchanged for 47 years. He is also the founder of the band "Klaus Hübner und die Frohsinnscombo," dedicated to Franconian music. In August 2023, he released an instrumental solo album titled "ZEIT," where he played all the instruments. The music album (Contemporary Jazz) is characterized by its calm and soft tones. Following his first solo cabaret program "Amor läuft Amok," he premiered his new program "Prahlhans Eitelkeit und die Nulpen" on November 4, 2023.

Pusch & Speckmann present the "Living Jukebox" and showcase a top-class request concert like you've never heard before - and it sounds different every time. Completely based on the guests' whims, moods, and creativity. The audience not only participates live but also actively shapes the evening!

In duet and duel, the two exceptional musicians improvise their way through a mix of classical, jazz, musical, and pop. Without playback, without aids, and without sheet music, they push themselves and their pianos to the limit. For instance, fulfilling the request to put a specific theme in the mouths of all possible and impossible interpreters along with their characteristic styles. The young generation is on the move, with emancipation and women's suffrage, cars and trams, life is getting faster.

What was life like back then, in the time between the World Wars, what were the everyday struggles, did the living conditions improve for the general population? Did a young woman now have free access to education, the right to work, and the actual ability to choose - or not - her own marriage partner? Through individual fates, we delve into an exciting story where young people fight for their personal freedom and self-realization. But the parents' generation holds different values, the political situation is explosive, and the gap between the wealthy industrialists and the large working class in Nuremberg is immense. Will there be a happy ending for the young couple in love, amid political struggle, the desire for emancipation, and societal disparities? What was it like living in that time between the world wars, what were the everyday struggles, was there an improvement in living conditions for the general population? Did a young woman now have free access to education, was she allowed to work and actually choose to marry - or not? Through individual destinies, we delve into an exciting story in which young people fight for their personal freedom and self-realization. However, the generation of parents holds onto different values, the political situation is explosive, and the gap between the wealthy manufacturers and the large working class in Nuremberg is immense. Will there be a happy ending for the young couple in love, amidst political struggle, the desire for emancipation, and societal gaps? In addition to this gripping drama, Dr. Alexander Schmidt will provide facts to impart a wealth of knowledge about Nuremberg's urban history during the Weimar Republic. Exemplified by the Zeltner Bräu brewery, the hop trader Joh. Barth & Sons, we will visit the printing press of the Franconian Tagespost in Breite Gasse, the Noris Lichtspiele in Karolinenstr., the Schocken, MAN, and the folk festival in Fürther Str. The ensemble of the Theater Rote Bühne guarantees an extremely entertaining evening with drama, comedy, song, and its burlesque diva Sweet Chili.

Life is colorful when one builds all the milestones themselves, driving from a performance to therapy and not having to panic about getting accidentally pregnant.

Life is also wild when one is on the go between the village and the city, between roasted pork and iced oat milk latte, between classic literature and Tiktok trends.

And then suddenly the studies are over and one has to decide which insurances they want, even though it feels like just yesterday they were legally an adult. It's not surprising that Teresa prefers to experience nothing privately - and yet has enough to tell.

Chaotic Strings, the "founders of Franconian Dadaism" (AZ), started with Free Jazz (hence their name) and for three and a half decades have been combining virtuoso vocal acrobatics with brilliant musical and dance contributions to create an honest, straightforward mainstream Dadaism.

The absurdly profound conference is a tightrope walk between highly intellectual and absurdly silly entertainment lyrics. Music parodies and recitations do the rest to excite every listener. The polarizing provocations of the early years laid the foundation for that liberating, integrative folk art that audiences now greatly appreciate in the group.

Together, they navigate through the daily obstacle course. And both agree: behind every successful cat is a strong woman! Anette Röckl will read from her book "New Adventures with the Pub Cat", a best-of collection of her columns published every Saturday in the Nürnberger Nachrichten. Suitable for people with and without cats who prefer to approach life with humor. She will be musically accompanied by singer, tap dancer, and entertainer Julia Kempken, who will bring her favorite songs along. Swing classics from Cole Porter, Fats Waller, George Gershwin, and Duke Ellington. Live piano accompaniment by Michael Stahl.

Anette Röckl was born in Nuremberg and studied theater studies, German studies, and romance languages. Since 2006, she has been an editor at the Nürnberger Nachrichten and is now their society reporter. "New Adventures with the Pub Cat" is her second book, a sequel to "My Pub Cat and I".

Julia Kempken has been based in Nuremberg since she was seven years old and founded the Tanzfabrik in 1997. In 2006, she opened the Theater rote Bühne at the same location, where she presents many musical show programs and her own theater productions that deal with the history of Nuremberg, especially focusing on the Weimar Republic era and the turmoil after 1933.

He is an ice-cold businessman and yet a devout Catholic and caring family man, a colorful personality. How did this son of Italian immigrants from one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York rise to the top of organized crime and become one of the richest and most influential men in America? This revue delves into this question, partly documentary, partly fictitious, with exciting and comedic scenes enriched with slapstick reminiscent of old silent films, accompanied by a live band. There are thrilling chase scenes, fast-paced charleston dances, brutal gangsters, lovely prostitutes, and then there is Mama – Theresina Capone, who brought her Alphonse into the world in Brooklyn in 1899. The journey into Nuremberg's wild 1920s - The Cabinet of Dr. Schmidt

The departure into modernity or the adherence to rigid tradition? Different worlds collide closely, manifesting in buildings and in the arts. Medieval romanticism and Dürer versus nude dances and flat-roofed buildings. An exciting and groundbreaking era, the era of the Weimar Republic, not only at the Bauhaus - but also in Nuremberg.
In this fascinating and at the same time entertaining-informative stage event, the theater rote Bühne in cooperation with the historian Dr. Alexander Schmidt looks through the keyholes of significant Nuremberg buildings through scenes, projections, dance, and music. We experience rapid tap dancing at the Apollo Theater, secret conversations with Karl Bröger in the Fränkische Tagespost, and wild flapper girls in the Bäckerhof. Above our heads, a fateful crisis meeting takes place in the office of the director general of the Bing tin toy factory, exactly in this building where the theater rote Bühne is located today. Classical ballet is performed on pointe at the opera house, while a burlesque diva stylishly sheds her clothes at the Wintergarten Varieté. Nuremberg's first flat-roofed building, the "Schocken", is met with ridicule and scorn, while despite protests from the National Socialists, the Threepenny Opera is celebrated at Messthaler's Intimate Theater.
