The queer feminist Smash Comedy Club, Hamburg's Stand Up Open Mic by
women, FLINTA* and queer comedians, is going on tour for the first time!
Smash Comedy stands for Stand Up without -isms: Here, night after night, the
proof is presented that good comedy can also thrive without discriminatory jokes.
Sexism, racism, misogyny, ableism or
queer hostility must "unfortunately" stay outside.

Instead: radical honesty,
and a colorful mix of diverse perspectives on life, society, and
being human.

The fixed ensemble for all shows includes Neo from Cologne, Katharina Linnepe from Berlin,
and Schwessi from Hamburg as the moderator. Additionally, various
female* comedy acts from the respective cities and regions will join,
along with awareness team leader and comedian Xenia Brandt.

The comedians:

NEO
In a world often shaped by conventions, Neo is a shining
exception, breaking heteronormative boundaries and unveiling new horizons: with
a unique style and a good portion of self-irony, Neo's Stand Up
Comedy breathes life into autobiographical stories. But Neo is more than just a
comedian*. With a clear focus on social justice and an
intersectional, queer feminist perspective in various artistic
projects (film, dance, theater, and a podcast), Neo opens up a world,
often overlooked – a reality where queer representation and diversity form the
centerpiece. A brief excerpt from Neo's previous comedy stops:

KATHARINA LINNEPE
Katharina Linnepe is many things: a moderator, podcaster, content creator, feminist
comedian, and activist. In all her projects, she focuses on what our
society needs to be fairer, more humane, and livable:
feminism, diversity, and engagement against the many faces of
discrimination. Her insight into politics and society was sharpened during her studies in
political science, sociology, and philosophy. Her joy in
communication and her humor allow Katharina to convey even the heaviest topics
in an entertaining and funny manner. Katharina became known to a broader
audience through her performances on numerous comedy and cabaret stages
across Germany and through the Instagram video series “When the Patriarchy Goes to
Therapy.”

SCHWESSI
Schwessi, as a single parent artist, has no time for last names. She
polarizes online and live on stage with her jokes, her videos, and her
songs, only to reunite everything beyond all clichés. Content-wise, the
AfD along with the patriarchy meets full-on humor and ruthless
self-irony, and pacifist utopias meet the apocalypse.
To enrich the male-dominated Stand Up scene in Germany with new, female
and queer perspectives and to give marginalized voices more
visibility and ears, Schwessi founded Germany's first
queer feminist Stand Up Comedy Open Mic in March 2023: the
"Smash Comedy Club." Everyone is welcome in the audience, but the stage
exclusively belongs to FLINTA* (women, lesbians, inter, trans, agender) and queer
comedy acts.

The SMASH COMEDY SHOW will be hosted on October 19, 2024, at the Duisburg
STAPELTOR. Doors: 7:30 PM, Show start 8 PM.

From 1 PM to 5 PM, free workshops will take place on the topics of Stand Up Comedy, Slam Poetry, Songwriting, Improv/Theater, and Awareness/Nonviolent Communication. Autobiographical experiences or observations will be artistically processed and presented humorously in the evening comedy show across various genres. The workshop leaders are all comedians themselves and are also affected by discrimination, whether gay, non-binary, trans, single parents + queer, or BiPoC, and they transform in their art the themes they are personally concerned with - which are also socially and politically relevant. People who have had no prior contact with (queer) feminist topics and want to actively open themselves up to new perspectives and art forms are explicitly invited to participate.

The SMASH COMEDY CLUB was founded for women, FLINTA* & queers in the German comedy scene - for more visibility of marginalized groups, individuals, and topics that rarely appear on conservative comedy stages.

SMASH COMEDY is a stage free of toxic masculinity, misogyny, racism, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia - a Brave Space - and a Safer Space for the audience as well. Motto: Maximum fun and Diversity Power against discrimination.

Following the show, which is designed by the core cast of the Smash Comedy Tour (Katharina Linnepe, Neo, and Xenia Brandt along with Schwessi as host) and the workshop leaders with their participants, there will be a discussion with the audience.
