Foreign Tongue

A small mishap during speed dating and too much cheap Pinot send single woman Kathy first to the floor after a stumble and then directly to the intensive care unit. When she awakens from the coma, nothing is physically missing, but her once quick-witted flow of speech has suddenly acquired a thick Bosnian accent overnight. Whether in a restaurant or supermarket, as soon as Kathy opens her mouth, the majority reacts with laughter or prejudice. Only Visnja, who works as a cleaner in the hospital, shows understanding for the situation and takes Kathy into a world that not only opens her eyes but also holds unexpected friendships and finally gives her life the long-missed meaning. At least until Kathy suddenly seems to recover.

Somewhere between a whimsical romcom and biting social satire, Boris Mojsovski's what-if scenario navigates seemingly insurmountable cultural differences, which are then absurdly revealed to be merely barriers in one's own mind. A wonderfully relaxed plea for

Fettnapf Kultur - Gala-Show: Filmpräsentationen

People step into faux pas, sometimes big, sometimes small. Often, faux pas appear where one least expects them. Sometimes they go unnoticed, at other times they become clear to one later on. This can lead to feelings of shame and a guilty conscience. Stepping into faux pas is not done with ill intent; however, it is helpful to approach the cultural peculiarities of other nationalities with respect and appreciation.

The project "Fettnapf Kultur" deals with the various peculiarities of cultural, social, and religious backgrounds.
Braunschweig has a very diverse society. People from all kinds of nations live here, and each has its cultural peculiarities that can often mean a "faux pas" for others.

For this project, we have collaborated with different groups. This resulted in 4 short films that we would like to present to an interested audience in a gala show.

Look forward to these films:

"Hands up and give me the pig ears"
Everyday communication problems. In a bakery, the most diverse people encounter each other, talking past one another but also ultimately communicating with each other.
"Image Film Special"
How does an image film for a refugee meeting place come about while everyday life continues: German classes, waste separation, counseling sessions – the normal German madness unfolds.
"Welcome to the City of Braunschweig"
Anyone who doesn't know the city will want to get to know it after this film. A homage to the city that has culture and science.
"In the End, There Remains Fear"
What everyday concerns do refugees living among us have? A documentary insight into the daily lives of refugees.
"What Happened So Far"
A look behind the scenes of filmmaking.

Experience the fascinating world of improvisational theater, where every show is unique. The plot, characters, and story are spontaneously improvised by the performers on stage, making them both actors as well as writers.

The Director's Cut will be played again, where three directors present their latest masterpieces. You, the audience, decide which two of the three films advance to the second round and which film will be resolved and completed in the third, final round. In improvisation theater, there is neither script nor screenplay, as everything unfolds in the here and now. Every scene that emerges is unique. Through various warm-up games, we clear our minds and then dive into the world of improvisation. We learn what makes characters interesting, how scenes develop, and how these can come to life for the audience even without a set.

Feeling like doing improv? In this workshop, you can give it a try. No prior experience in improvisation theater is required. Here, fun and playfulness are the focus!
