String Quartet (Winners of the Int. ARD Competition 2026)

Aris Quartet, Armida Quartet, Quatuor Ébène, Faust Quartet, Artemis Quartet, Mandelring Quartet, Neues Leipziger Streichquartett, Petersen Quartet, Auryn Quartet, Wilanów Quartet, Tokyo String Quartet – all of them have been winners over the last 56 years at one of the most famous and important music competitions in the world, the International ARD Competition in Munich. And they have all been guests (some multiple times) at the Kempener Klosterkonzerte! A beautiful tradition that we would like to add another highlight to: In September 2026, the competition will again take place in the now four-year cycle for string quartet ensembles, and we have happily agreed to a "Blind Date" with the muses: Whoever wins this year's competition will perform on this day in the Paterskirche. Anyone who hates surprises can ease the tension a bit: The competition can be followed on-site and digitally via livestream on ARD Klassik from the preliminary rounds to the winners’ concerts…

Concert Introduction:
Chamber Music Insights with Thomas Weißschnur
Before all 6 concerts of the chamber music series, there will be a concert introduction about 30 minutes long one hour before the concert begins. For the 2026 / 2027 season, we were able to win Düsseldorfer clarinetist and music moderator Thomas Weißschnur again. You can expect interesting background information and discussions about the concert program and the musicians.
