Contrary to popular belief, the common GDR citizen was allowed to travel. By train, Interflug, Trabi, or hitchhiking, they set off on a world tour - to the East. Bulgaria and Hungary, in particular, quickly evolved into the "Mallorca and Tuscany" for vacation-ready East German workers.
The reading presents a selection of the most beautiful postcard texts ... how Eastern tourists experienced their "best weeks of the year." Bizarre, funny, euphoric, often refreshingly banal. Just holiday greetings. Collected by Georg Keim, read by him together with Gisa Bergmann.
The exhibition of the same name for this project was already on display at the Schmiere in 2014.
