The demanding satirical short film has had a home for 30 years: the City Theatre of Rüsselsheim am Main. This year, the two-day festival of the Cinema Concetta Filmförderung takes place on June 19 and 20, and as always, the audience will award the three best films of the extensive program with the coveted prizes – voting rights for all.

"Short Films PLUS" on Saturday, June 20 promises a moderated sequence of contributions in addition to the films in the Great Hall, as well as a supporting program with a beer garden and live music. There is traditionally the opportunity to personally meet filmmakers. On Friday, June 19, "Short Films PURE" will take place again. The winner will receive 5,000 euros and the stylized bronze eye as a trophy. The second place is awarded 2,000 euros, sponsored by the municipal utilities of Rüsselsheim, and the third place, with 1,000 euros from Stark für Rüsselsheim. The awards at the Rüsselsheimer Filmtage often mark the beginning of a genuine career in the film industry.

Two violins, a cello, a piano - and an abundance of creative energy: Salut Salon are "Hamburg's most charming cultural export" (Hamburger Abendblatt). For over 20 years, the four virtuosos have been performing their "Masterpieces of 'classical' comedy" (The New York Times) in the most prestigious concert halls worldwide, delighting audiences with outrageous rides between Vivaldi and vocal acrobatics, tango and crime scenes, rap and Rachmaninoff - "Wonderful!" (The Economic Times India). With their new program "heimat," Salut Salon will simultaneously celebrate the finale of a concert trilogy starting in 2025: Following "Love" and "Dreams," the next great, almost all-encompassing theme follows. PSYCHO - Fantasy about the Cold Horror

"In Psycho, I guided the audience as if I were playing on an organ," said Alfred Hitchcock in a conversation with his admirer François Truffaut. Hitchcock understood "Psycho" as an experimental film intended to have a profound effect on the audience. The actor Matthias Brandt now reinterprets this cinematic masterpiece on stage together with the pianist and singer Jens Thomas. Brandt draws on elements from the literary source. Thomas, described by the Süddeutsche as the "Jimi Hendrix of the piano," improvises a soundtrack to Brandt's staged reading. This evening is not predetermined and routinized but rather thrives on the intense, spontaneous interaction between the two performers. "Jens Thomas and Matthias Brandt created an extraordinarily dense, uniquely individual scenario in the improvisation with text and sound, a space filled only with imagination, where the occasionally quiet ironic tone did not detract but rather enrich," stated the Frankfurter Rundschau.

We dance, swing, and dream ourselves into the cold season: Welcome to “Vintage Wonderland.” The extravagant conférencieuse and drag queen Madame Brûlée, known as Skinny Marie, guides us through the evening, sharp-tongued, glamorous, and with a big heart. In amusing rivalry, she encounters the singer Velvet Valentine, known as Violet Greens, who sets the sound with her jazz band The Blizzard Swingers. Some people still think that a cappella is a dusty domain for bland music performances without punch. They have miscalculated when it comes to MAYBEBOP! What this band has been doing professionally for a quarter of a century is far more than mere vocal acrobatics. It is a confrontation with the essence of musical expression, distilled to the purely human: the voice. The results are original, German-language compositions that elegantly navigate between sharp-tongued satire, profound reflection, touching empathy, and absurd comedy. MAYBEBOP is intellectually agile and politically unequivocal. MAYBEBOP stands for tolerance and openness; their lyrics are a clear rejection of any form of populism.
