Ella & Louis Jazz Club im Holzhausenschlösschen - Joo Kraus – „Alchemy“ & 60 Jahre
Joo Kraus (Trumpet, Vocals)
Ralf Schmid (Piano)
Veit Hübner (Double Bass)
Torsten Krill (Drums)
Joo Kraus live – and it’s immediately clear what it’s about: energetic jazz, grooving sounds, and great musical (and human) openness. The internationally renowned trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer has been one of the defining voices of European jazz for many years. Awarded, among other things, with the Echo Jazz and two Grammy nominations, and known for his genre-crossing projects, he moves confidently between jazz, funk, pop, and electronic sound worlds.
For his 60th birthday, Joo Kraus consciously presents himself looking forward: Alchemy stands for transformation, openness, and the joy of musical risk. The pieces emerge from the moment, carried by an ensemble that has been performing together on stage for decades – a blind interplay that derives its special energy precisely from this.
The music of Alchemy is organic, direct, and full of dynamics. Sometimes light and expansive, sometimes edgy and self-ironic, it unfolds a sound that playfully overcomes stylistic boundaries while carrying a clear personal signature. Grooving passages meet lyrical moments, complex structures meet immediate accessibility. Live, Alchemy becomes what it is at its core: a musical dialogue in the here and now. Interaction, spontaneity, and proximity to the audience are at the center – each concert evolves anew and remains unique.
