Angelika Niescier is one of the outstanding musicians redefining the contours of the international jazz scene for some time now - an artist on a mission, with boundless energy, a rich palette of colors, and virtuosic technique. As a bandleader and composer, she has received some of the most prestigious awards (including the Deutscher Jazzpreis and WDR-Jazzpreis). She ignites stages and festivals around the world from Vancouver to Tokyo with some of the most influential musicians of our time such as Joachim Kühn, Tyshawn Sorey, Aki Takase, Nasheet Waits, Tomeka Reid, Ernie Watts, Sylvie Courvoisier, Gerald Cleaver, and Michio Yagi.
Marta Warelis is an exciting performer with a deep passion for improvisation and experimentation in all genres. Through her adventurous spirit and openness, she musically opens doors between jazz, avant-garde, free improvisation, and sound exploration — exemplifying a new generation of improvising female musicians in Europe. After her studies in Poland and the Netherlands, she spent a long time in Amsterdam and now lives in Berlin. She collaborates with various artists including Dave Douglas, Ingekrikt Håker Flaten, Frank Rosaly, John Dikeman, and Nick Dunston.

Johannes Enders – „Sweet Freedom“
A Tribute to Sonny Rollins
Sonny Rollins, one of the last living icons of modern jazz, has been and remains an inspiration for countless generations of saxophonists.
This includes Johannes Enders, one of the most important European voices on the tenor saxophone. A great reason to dedicate an entire album of arrangements of some of Sonny Rollins' greatest hits to him, and to tour with this program!
Joining this adventure are Munich bassist Henning Sieverts and the American master drummer Howard Curtis from Washington.
The title of the recording “Freedom Suite” speaks volumes about one of jazz's central characteristics: the drive for musical freedom, but also the drive for freedom for African American people. In the recording year 1958, when the civil rights movement in the USA was gaining momentum, the record label decided to withdraw the album from the market, fearing a politicization of the music.
We can finally enjoy the value of these compositions, which are now considered classics, and their sophisticated arrangements live!
