The Burgfestspiele Bad Vilbel is an annual outdoor theater festival that has been held since 1987 in the historic water castle of Bad Vilbel. With over 100,000 visitors per season and around 230 events from May to September, it is one of the most popular festivals in Hesse.
The water castle, of which the oldest parts date back to the 12th century, offers a unique backdrop for performances. The castle courtyard features a largely covered grandstand with about 730 seats, which provides guests with a pleasant experience even in changeable weather.
The program of the Burgfestspiele is diverse and includes drama, musical theater, as well as children's and youth theater. The offering is complemented by guest performances from renowned international artists. The combination of historical ambiance and varied program makes the festival a special cultural highlight in the region.
The water castle is located directly on the Nidda cycling path and is therefore also easily accessible for cyclists. Public parking spaces are available for drivers in the surrounding area. Additionally, the connection to public transport is excellent, with an S-Bahn station in close proximity.
