Skerryvore - Scot Rock
Lighthouses have been places full of mystique and solitude since time immemorial. They guide sailors to safe harbors or help them navigate dangerous cliffs. A great inspiration for a band that, with their extraordinary sound and impressive consistency, sends signals of light into the world and has been gaining new fans daily for 20 years.
The sound of Skerryvore, named after the lighthouse of the “Isle of Tiree” in the west of Scotland, is as breathtaking as the wild and untamed island itself – the home of some band members. Their energetic Trad Rock with fiddle, accordion, pipes, flutes, whistles, guitar, and bagpipe crashes like the wild surf against the cliffs. Bass, keyboards, and drums add funky accents. But the wild beauty of the Scottish Highlands is also inherent in the music of the Skerries. The wonderful voice of frontman Alec Dalglish, who is also responsible for most songs, goes under the skin.
This mix has earned the guys several awards: Best CD and Best Singer/Songwriter (SNMA). 3 x Live Act of the Year (STMA). In 2017, Skerryvore was the face of the global “Visit Scotland” campaign. In December 2020, they stormed to No. 1 on the Scottish charts with their single. At the beginning of 2021, the hit also established itself in England and was then featured for several weeks on BBC2's Playlist A. In Scotland, for example, they rent the football stadium in Oban and fill it with 10,000 fans.
After being "Indie" for 18 years, Skerryvore signed a world contract with the renowned record label "Cooking Vinyl" in 2023. "Tempus" climbed to the top of the official Scottish album and British folk album charts in 2023 and reached the top 40 of the official British charts. Three single releases landed on the BBC Radio 2 New Music Playlist, and Apple Music selected "Another World" for their New Hits playlist in various countries.
In December 2024, the “Skerries” played as co-headliners in Scotland's largest arena in Glasgow before 14,000 fans. The German tour in the autumn of 2024 was nearly sold out.
On May 31, 2025, they will celebrate their 20th anniversary. They will then embark on a world tour to celebrate with their many fans worldwide.
