AIGHETTA QUARTETT - Gitarrenmusik aus Spanien und Frankreich
The Aighetta Quartet has been a consistent presence at international music festivals for decades and was founded in 1979 in Monte Carlo, giving its first concert in 1980. The ensemble gained recognition through the interpretation of the "Andalusian Concerto" by Joaquin Rodrigo, accompanied by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo. They subsequently toured France, England, Italy, Hungary, and Germany. Anthony Burgess described the music of the Aighetta Quartet as "new and irresistible" upon the release of their first record in 1987. Since then, the quartet has recorded several CDs, including a tribute to Bill Evans (Time Remembered) together with jazz guitarist John McLaughlin and the complete works for four guitars by Anthony Burgess. The artists have performed in many renowned concert halls and theaters during their tours, such as the "Teatro la Fenice" in Venice, the "Palau de la Musica Catalana" in Barcelona, the "Salle Garnier" in Monte Carlo, the National Gallery in Budapest, Gasteig, and the Munich University of Music, the Brucknerhaus Linz, "Wigmore Hall" in London, "le Théâtre Antique" in Arles, "le Théâtre Dejaset" in Paris, Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, Teatro Ghione in Rome, and many more. “The Aighetta gentlemen: Four high-caliber virtuosos from the indirect Segovia school, four individualists with fabulous ensemble spirit, who have challenged the natural limits of the guitar.” - K.
