Floodlights
Indie rock from Melbourne: Floodlights on tour in Germany in June 2026
For the indie rock band Floodlights from Melbourne, it seems that all dreams are coming true: Louis Parsons, Ashlee Kehoe, Archie Shannon, Joe Draffen, and Sarah Hellyer are now playing concerts in their home country in sold-out venues and traveling the world for eagerly anticipated show nights. Additionally, they signed a record deal with the world-renowned indie label [PIAS] Recordings, and Floodlights even received a nomination for the most important Australian music award. More than deserved, when you listen to the honest, unvarnished lyrics, the haunting voice of lead singer Louis Parsons, embedded in multi-part harmonies (with bandmate Sarah Hellyer) and accompanied by melancholic indie rock, post-punk, and folk sounds.
These genuine, intimate lyrics, penetrating melodies, and captivating rhythms ensure that especially the live performances of Floodlights remain in your memory for a long time. Since the band's formation in 2018, an EP and three albums have been released, and still, stirring, moving, poetic songwriting is at the center of their work. Fortunately, music fans worldwide recognized this potential with the first EP "Backyard" in 2019; they purchased every physical copy of the release except for the last one. In 2020, the debut album "From a View" was released, and Floodlights' songs began to enter more and more conversations among music enthusiasts, leading to sold-out shows and gigs at Australian festivals. The year 2023 was to be crucial: their second album "Painting of My Time" was released, and Floodlights put all their savings into a pot to perform live at the world's largest showcase, SXSW in Austin, Texas. True to the motto "Nothing ventured, nothing gained," Floodlights showed courage and went all in, as their releases had previously entered the world without the support of a major label. This would eventually change through the festival in Texas and with the third album released by the label [PIAS].
Always on the move, experiences like touring and traveling, as well as their first experiences as a band, were processed on "Underneath" (2025); all of which make it worthwhile to live as a musician and a person. Furthermore, themes such as personal turmoil, Australian identities, or the vast landscapes of their homeland find their way into their songs and serve as an escape from the bleak reality. With "Underneath," they climbed the Australian album charts for the first time. However, it is still the concerts from which Floodlights draw their energy and motivation. Highlights of their live career include support shows for The Killers, Pavement, Amyl & the Sniffers, and Black Midi. After gigs at local festivals like the Reeperbahn Festival or Rolling Stone Beach and their last tour in Germany in the fall of 2025, Floodlights are finally returning to Germany this June for concerts in Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Haldern!
