Content Note: CROWD CONTROL zeigt polizeiliche Praktiken und die Simulation von Gewalt im Rahmen von Polizeitraining.
Um sich auf Proteste, Aufruhr und Krawalle vorzubereiten, inszenieren Bereitschaftspolizeien auf der ganzen Welt aufwändige, anhand von Skripten inszenierte Simulationen. Neben den „übenden“ Polizist*innen in Uniform spielen darin außerdem Polizist*innen die Rollen der Protestierenden, skandieren politische Slogans und tragen dabei Erkennungszeichen politischer Subkulturen. Ein genuines Polizei-Theater. In CROWD CONTROL transponieren sieben Performer*innen diese eigentlich als „Verschlusssache“ geltenden polizeilichen Taktiken und Praxen auf die Bühne: in eine vieldeutige Simulationsanordnung, in der die Grenzen zwischen der Logik des Theaters und der Polizei verschwimmen.

Content Note: CROWD CONTROL shows police practices and the simulation of violence in the context of police training.
To prepare for protests, unrest, and riots, riot police forces around the world stage elaborate, script-based simulations. In addition to the uniformed officers in training, other police officers take on the roles of protesters—chanting political slogans and wearing symbols of political subcultures. A genuine police theatre.
In CROWD CONTROL, seven performers transpose these police tactics and practices—typically classified as “confidential”—onto the stage: into an ambiguous simulation setup where the boundaries between the logic of theatre and that of the police begin to blur.
