Jazz am Fluss - Incognito & Torsten Goods
16.07.2025 - Incognito / Torsten Goods & Band feat. Jakob Manz (Seated concert)
The beauty of this evening and this program is that Bluey Maunick from Incognito has just produced several tracks together with Torsten Goods for Torsten's new album, which will be released in the week of July 16, 2025. The performance of these tracks and the collaboration this evening will mark the premiere of a Franconian-British collaboration and the grand finale of the evening after the two sets of the artists.
20:45 Incognito
The multicultural collective Incognito, founded by Jean Paul Bluey Maunick, is one of the pioneering bands of Acid Jazz from the 80s in London. Their greatest commercial successes came with hit covers of Ronnie Laws' "Always There" (featuring Jocelyn Brown) and Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry Bout A Thing", which placed them in the Top 10 in the UK and all over Europe for several weeks in the early 90s. These hits helped the band achieve five consecutive albums in the Top 5 of the US Jazz Charts. After nearly 45 years, the career of Bluey and Incognito remains a unique British success story. From Top 10 hits to collaborations with music industry giants like George Benson, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Philip Bailey, Jocelyn Brown, George Duke, Al Jarreau, Marcus Miller, Paul Weller, Maxi Priest, Mario Biondi, Bluey has undoubtedly secured his place among the greats of the global Soul scene. The Englishman born in Mauritius is to this day, and this is already 45 years, the driving force behind one of the most captivating band projects of danceable jazz. Incognito delivers with their Acid Jazz a show that is both melodic, danceable, chart-worthy, but also heavily influenced by complex, often electronic rhythms of Soul and Funk. It will simply blow you off your seats!
19:30 Torsten Goods & band featuring Jakob Manz
After his successful album "Soul Searching," Torsten Goods' eighth studio album now follows. A source of fresh "Feelgood Music," influenced by Jazz, Soul, Blues, and the laid-back West Coast/AOR sounds of the late 70s in California. The album also tells the very personal story of the visual transformation of "the gifted guitarist as well as singer," as stated by SZ, "who has therefore already been called the ‘German George Benson’." For the exclusive album premiere in his hometown Erlangen, he has invited the rising star and saxophone virtuoso Jakob Manz as a special guest, who also thrilled at Jazz am See in 2023 and plays on the album.
Torsten Goods is one of Germany's best and most successful jazz guitarists and jazz-pop/soul singers, briefly: the "German George Benson" (SZ). The 40-year-old is also a recipient of the German Music Authors' Prize and has been nominated twice for the Echo Jazz for his six previous solo albums, most of which were released under the renowned jazz label ACT. Goods is a mainstay of the international scene with countless tours across Germany, Russia, China, and all over Europe with his own band. In addition, he is involved in many other projects, is a regular member of Sarah Connor's band, performs concerts with Till Brönner or Nils Landgren, and is responsible for the artistic direction of the Jazz & Klassik Am Fluss festival in Erlangen. His last album "Soul Searching" entered the Media Control Jazz Charts at number 2 in September 2023.
