On the first weekend of November, the club house of the Bürgersöhne on the shooting range transforms into an Eldorado for art lovers and friends of handmade designer pieces. Numerous artists and craftsmen present their unique works and invite visitors to a creative weekend. From decorative objects to personalized everyday items. From classic to modern or from simple to extravagant, more than 1500 objects are waiting for visitors.
Highlights of the event include the wooden works by Roland Benecke and Frank Boje. Benecke showcases handcrafted wall and wristwatches at his booth, which he individually designs with the help of a laser. Whether for birth, school enrollment, or wedding, he customizes the watches with names, images, or quotes, creating unique keepsakes.
Boje, on the other hand, specializes in stylish wooden pens and ballpoint pens. On-site, he demonstrates at a lathe how precisely various woods are processed and then connected with a fitting. Through the fittings, the writing instruments receive different appearances: from Viking look to Harley-Davidson to Western design.
For more ambiance and a cozy atmosphere in the garden and at home, ceramic artist Sabine Nordmeyer provides her creations. In her workshop near Klein Ilsede, she produces over 4000 different shapes based on her own ideas, suitable for every occasion. To give the clay the final touch, the artist has more than 600 different glazes at her disposal. The range includes bowls, decorations for indoor and outdoor areas, as well as uniquely designed garden stakes.
Several artists dedicate themselves to the so-called upcycling art, where new works are created from old, unused items. For instance, Birgit Röglin creates new and sturdy bags from old chocolate wrappers, which are unique. Gudrun Jestrzembski-Radszuweit from Hanover also uses old materials such as wood, plastics, metals, or felt fabrics to create individual boxes, key holders, or storage boxes. Ingrid Laube from Neustadt am Rübenberge follows the same principle. Her exhibition materials include, among others, antique, solid silver forks and spoons. The cutlery reveals its past through engravings and years that have been preserved during processing. The artist designs and creates jewelry pieces using the cutlery of her clients, preserving the sentimental value and personal connection. Thus, cutlery that has sometimes been passed down for generations with individual value is transformed into pendants, rings, bracelets, or bottle openers.
The further offerings at the art days are very diverse, ranging from high-quality sewing works, decorative objects, subtly scented handmade natural soaps, teddy bears, lovingly arranged natural flower arrangements to cheerful greeting cards and gift wrapping. Of course, there will also be demonstrations at the booths of some artists, such as bobbin lace making, glazing, or jewelry making.
In addition to the art, visitors can expect a cozy artist café with food and drinks. Various cakes and tortes baked by the exhibitors will be available.
