Lüneburger Villenkonzerte - Klavierabend "Innere Welten"
Piano Evening "Innere Welten" with Jung Eun Séverine Kim
with works by Robert Schumann and Claude Debussy
This program invites you into two individual "inner worlds." Robert Schumann's Fantasiestücke op. 12 and Claude Debussy's Prélude (Volume 1) share the aspiration to transform emotional spaces, emotional developments, and imaginary images into sound.
Schumann's Fantasiestücke appear like snapshots of inner states – sometimes passionately agitated, sometimes quietly absorbed. Inspired by literature, particularly by E. T. A. Hoffmann, he focuses less on narrative form and more on the immediate expression of sensations. Rapid harmonic color changes and surprising rhythmic turns reflect his two artistic poles: the impulsive Florestan and the dreamy Eusebius.
Debussy's Préludes, on the other hand, open up a sound world of almost visual quality. Whether it’s a depiction of nature, a legend, or a scene from everyday life – each piece creates its own atmospheric space, which is shaped more by association than by narration. With floating harmonies and unusual timbres, an open, poetic language of sound emerges. The fact that the titles only appear at the end of the pieces refers to Debussy's idea of initially stimulating the imagination of the listeners and only later offering an interpretation.
Pianist Séverine Kim is internationally acclaimed for her "magical and inspirational sound" and is sought after worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician.
