Every year again, one looks forward to the Christ Child!
But hardly does the pre-Christmas season begin, the heavenly peace is over. Candles are set up, wreaths are bound.
Advent is when the woman clears out the cellar and decorates the apartment. As a man, one wants to iron the laundry once a year, but all sockets are occupied by fairy lights.
In the city centers, one struggles through the crowds in search of gifts. On December 23rd, we are then completely exhausted and must realize: “Finally, I have my gifts together, now only the ones for the others are missing!”
It is best to switch straight to “Swabian gifting.” No more buying, better to accept the packages for the neighbors throughout Advent!
And when the family shows up… back in the day, one ate what was on the table. Today, the son is a vegetarian, his girlfriend is vegan, the daughter has severe apron intolerance, and the wife even puts milk in the sugar.
Christmas is actually the festival of love, but can one still talk about that when the wife bakes mountains of “Bredle” (Christmas cookies) and then hides them so that the husband doesn’t devour them before Christmas? On Christmas Eve, one first has to go on a “Bredle” hunt. Christmas thus becomes more like Easter.
However, we should not forget that the right questions are asked during Advent, such as:
1. Can the three wise men also be rated with stars?
2. Why do I rhyme mulled wine with “I can't go to work tomorrow”
3. Why do 9 out of 10 geese recommend roast beef as a festive meal?
And most importantly, at the end of the year, one should reconcile with their partner: “Honey, if I hurt, annoyed, or disappointed you last year, let me tell you: there must have been a reason for it.”

Heinrich Del Core was born as the son of an Italian guest worker in Rottweil. After completing secondary school, he initially opted for an apprenticeship as a dental technician.
Only very late, in 1995, did he begin to engage in comedic magic. From comedic magic, it evolved into stand-up comedy and cabaret. He ended his profession as a dental technician in 2000 and has since been successfully performing as a comedian and cabaret artist on stages across Germany, as well as being a guest in numerous TV shows.
