Misa Criolla – Lateinamerikanische Weihnacht
The choir vox nova presents, together with tenor Adam Sánchez and the ensemble Mestizo, the works Misa Criolla and Navidad Nuestra by Ariel Ramírez, as well as other Latin American Christmas songs.
With the Misa Criolla for solo tenor, mixed choir, drums, piano, and traditional instruments from the Andean region, the Argentine composer Ariel Ramírez created a success in 1963 that went around the world. From the combination of familiar liturgy with Latin American folklore and the instruments of the region, a mass of enchanting magic emerged that immediately immerses the audience in the atmospheric experience of Latin American Christmas. The text corresponds to the official Spanish mass liturgy, but each part is provided with a specific rhythm originating from different regions of Argentina.
The Munich group vox nova participates in interesting, often genre-crossing productions and organizes its own concerts featuring demanding a cappella music in Germany and abroad. Adam Sanchez was born in Warsaw and holds Mexican citizenship. Guest appearances have taken him, among others, to the Bavarian State Opera under Zubin Mehta, Peter Schneider, and Sir Colin Davis, as well as to the Salzburg and Bregenz Festival House.
