A revue - musical, profound-comical, and highly entertaining - as a tribute to our capital city. Each song tells its own, surprising story: from newly discovered musical treasures (Reutter, Neumann, Spoliansky & Co.) to a fresh ballad for the moment.
What makes this city so amazing, attractive, and seductive, while also being familiar, challenging, and sometimes intriguingly foreign? What does this proverbial melting pot, this multifaceted cosmos of feelings and moods mean for us – and what does it do to us?
Berlin has inspired generations of artists to create musical stories full of wit, melancholy, and passionate zest for life. The rhythm of their songs pulses through all eras of the city’s history and vibrates between irony, longing, and unbridled joy of living.
For this musically rich revue, a high-profile, singing, playing, and performing ensemble comes together: Ivy Quainoo, winner of the first season of The Voice of Germany and recently seen in the musical Hamilton in Hamburg; Hans-Werner Meyer, known from numerous theater productions and the ZDF series Letzte Spur Berlin; Jacqueline Macaulay, at home on many German stages; Jonathan Walz, a graduate of the University of Drama; Ernst Busch, and Jakob Wenig, with whom he forms the duo Puck and Paul. The quintet is completed by Harry Ermer on piano, known among others from the successful production Ewig Jung.
From this creative pool arises a rapid succession of musical scenes - lively, comical, touching, or thought-provoking. The often surprising arrangements by Harry Ermer open up a wide sonic spectrum for the ensemble: from a cappella singing to a five-part ukulele orchestra.
