The Landesjugendblasorchester Hessen presents an exciting program in its autumn concert that bridges tradition and contemporary symphonic wind band literature. At the center is Paul Hindemith's groundbreaking "Symphony in Bb," which has significantly influenced the development of the modern wind orchestra. Works by Karel Husa and Vaclav Nelhybel showcase the impact of European composers on the American wind orchestra scene, while the second half of the concert features John Mackey's "Soprano Saxophone Concerto" and Dana Wilson's "Dance of the New World," reflecting on the present.

John Mackey's saxophone concerto is a special highlight of the evening: Malte Hornbostel, a musician from the ranks of the Landesjugendblasorchester, will take on the challenging solo part. Under the leadership of guest conductor Björn Zimmermann, the audience can expect a varied concert evening filled with sound colors and energy. Duration of the event is approximately 2 hours including a break.

Since 2008, the Landesjugendblasorchester (LJBO) Hessen has united talented young musicians aged 14 to 25. Twice a year, the members meet to work on challenging pieces under the leadership of Jens Weismantel or experienced guest conductors. The orchestra is a selective ensemble, requiring a qualifying audition for participation. The passion and close community of the approximately 80 musicians create an impressive sound body that regularly captivates audiences. In 2023, the LJBO celebrated its 15th anniversary with a performance of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" in collaboration with the Landesjugendchor Hessen.
The Landesjugendblasorchester Hessen is one of four Hessian state youth ensembles owned by the state-run Junge Musik Hessen gGmbH.
