This concert program goes back about four centuries: The plague still rages in Europe - including in Italy. At the same time, around 1700, a development takes place in which instrumental music, especially in Northern Italy, unfolds all its splendor.

Dreams lure Krabat to the mill in Koselbruch, which everyone warns him about because it is not quite right there. Upon his arrival, the eerie miller takes him on as the twelfth apprentice and promises him an easy and beautiful life. Krabat only realizes later that in the mill, not only grain is ground, but the master also teaches his apprentices in the dark arts. Eagerly, he learns the secrets of black magic from the miller and is fascinated by the power it gives him over others. But the price for it is high. As miller's boys keep mysteriously dying, Krabat finds himself deeply entangled in a web of dependency and seduction. To break free, he must make a difficult and fateful decision.

In this classic of youth literature, Otfried Preußler tells of the seductive powers of power and magic, of loss and betrayal, of courage and one's own responsibility in an authoritarian system. A fairy tale about gaining confidence in one's own strength – and thus the possibility of being free.

Who would have thought that a declaration of love for the Queen and literature would fit so well together? The dogs are to blame. While out for a walk with the Queen, they run off to bark at the district library's bookmobile parked weekly in one of the palace courtyards. Ma'am is too well-mannered not to apologize to the librarian, borrows a book – also out of politeness –...and gets hooked.

The effects of the majestic reading pleasure are unpredictable, the very foundations of Buckingham Palace are certainly shaken, and there won't be a dry eye among the audience.
Birgit Minichmayr is one of the "best and most excessive actresses of her generation." Countertenor Alois Mühlbacher and the Sonare string quartet accompany with music from old and new England including pieces by Dowland, Purcell, Elgar, Britten, Queen, and the Beatles.

Grischka Voss portrays, in the form of a "nightmare" with its absurdities and exaggerations, the struggles women face when they do not perceive motherhood as their individual destiny.

In Gertraud Klemm's work, the waiting room of a practice becomes a space for philosophical debates between genders. A cleaning lady as the master of ceremonies in the gynecological department assists a patient by engaging in a fiercely comedic clash with unwavering male authorities.

David Castro-Balbi & CHAARTS - "American Beauty"

A tribute to the rich musical heritage of North and South America.

Very American? Those who ask about the "real" American music have a problem. Which America, North or South, songs or film music, ballads or Broadway? This concert shows a small glimpse of this huge spectrum.

Antonín Dvorák's string quintet resonates with his connection to nature and his inclination towards sophisticated folklore. A musical reflection of his joy for the Bohemian compatriots in the US town of Spillville, where the composer spent the summer months of 1893 with his family.

George Gershwin's career unfolds as a classic American success story – from dishwasher to millionaire. Along with his brother Ira, he wrote America's first opera: "Porgy and Bess". At the peak of his career – not even 40 years old – Gershwin passed away. But his music is immortal and successful to this day.

Astor Piazzolla went to New York and later to Paris to become a classical composer. Fortunately, his teacher Nadia Boulanger "redirected" him back to his musical origins, the Tango – making him one of the greatest composers of South America. His "Four Seasons" are the essence of his genius. Piazzolla wanted to symbolize the pulse of the big city: his music brings bourgeois Buenos Aires to life before our eyes, condensing into a new tango, the soul of the city.

The press praises Castro-Balbi's virtuosity and his "nobly flowing, warm singing."

Starting from Schiller's "Maria Stuart," Birgit Reutter has written this evening for herself. She has shifted the focus to Mary's adversary, English Queen Elizabeth I, "Not Maria Stuart."

The fates of both queens are inseparably linked, their destinies show many parallels. But while Elizabeth was always careful to make politics, to be on good terms with her people, and to put her personal life in the background, Mary followed her heart, let herself be guided by emotions, and took the liberty to be a woman.

The Schillerian material is interwoven with original letters from the two protagonists and spiced up with pop and musical songs, some of which Reutter has given new lyrics to. Those who remember "Arizona" know what she is capable of - she acts, sings, dances, and effortlessly manages to let the audience slide from one emotion to another. Curiously, it is precisely the songs that give the piece great depth. From Madonna's "Like a Virgin" to "Maria" from West Side Story to Barbara Streisand's "Free again," everything is included.

In a stately house by the sea, a wedding is supposed to take place. In the back, in the dark courtyard, there is great excitement: deliveries are made, cleaning, tidying up, guarding, and disposing. Sentenced to stand in the background, the servants struggle amidst the hustle and bustle of preparations for the grand celebration for their dignity and respect from the strong and wealthy.

Suddenly, a strange woman appears. Pregnant and laden with a heavy backpack, she seeks refuge in the courtyard. In exchange for protection and the essentials, she discreetly offers her help, and as if by magic, everything changes. Rigidity gives way to flexibility, unattainable wishes become reality, and panic attacks are soothed by the power of new life.

FESTE is a poetic blend of bitter tragedy and slapstick. A tragicomic story about the pursuit of individual happiness.

In the beginning was the rhythm – that's how it was for the two. Even as children, Philipp Jungk and Alexander Glöggler searched the kitchen for pots and built a small drum set out of them – basically, they still do that today. However, now it's on a worldwide scale, with multiple awards, performing together or with large orchestras! The boundaries blur between classical, groove, ambition, and entertainment.

Their new program All you can BEAT promises a unique percussion experience. The duo transforms everyday objects like garbage cans, gasoline cans, and traffic signs into captivating beats. At the same time, they make the entire world of percussion instruments, from vibraphone to marimbaphone, shine in a new light. They will present original compositions as well as global hits like Enjoy the Silence, Nothing else matters, or film music from Das Boot or Star Wars in completely novel, surprising versions.

Alex Glöggler and Philipp Jungk turn their stage into a place where the rhythm of everyday life becomes a hypnotic symphony. For the 27th time, the International Festival Young Masters takes place in the Lake Constance region!

In 2020, Peter Vogel developed a new project. Under the motto "Young Spirit - Skilled Hands" internationally renowned artists and selected young masters come together, rehearse extensively, discuss stylistic and interpretive aspects of the works, and finally perform together on multiple occasions. The established musicians act as instructors, sharing their many years of experience. On the other hand, they engage as equal partners in chamber music with the highly talented students - winners of prestigious international competitions - who contribute technical brilliance, curiosity, freshness, and youthful enthusiasm.

The audience and the press were thrilled by the new format. The Memminger Zeitung wrote under the headline "With gripping intensity" in its title about "acclaim for brilliant collaboration between renowned and young masters." The Schwäbische Zeitung stated in the cultural section, among other things: "The 'young spirit' in the sense of the joy of discovery and making music ideally remains with all musicians, and 'skilled hands' are also possessed by the young ones who present themselves very successfully at international competitions and festivals. Chamber music connects performers of all ages and experience levels."

An equally breathtaking and comical tour de force through the male and female images of our time.

In film and television, love stories always end at the moment of highest happiness: embrace, deep gaze into the eyes, long kiss, great sex, and then - cut! Unfortunately, we never find out how the envy-inducing dream couples deal with the subsequent everyday relationship struggles. The bitter truth is: They don't handle it! Just like everyone else, dream couple or not. And so, the dreamy romance of Michael and Jennifer Ehnert also ends in front of the divorce judge.

Unfortunately, the embattled couple must wait for two more hours before an official end is drawn under their marital war, as a whole hall of divorcees is ahead of them in line. Enough time for the two to review how it all began - and how it all fell apart.

The audience witnesses a ludicrous love relationship with verbal bullets on the wayside, dialogues like landmines, and an inexhaustible cornucopia of meanness and insults.

Stirring "klezmer-Balkan stew" that is truly enjoyable!

This young and diverse ensemble, composed of instruments of various colors, has something to say! Classically trained, Otrava has early on tasted the music of the wide world. They met in the youth orchestra before setting out to create their very own and special concerts.

Now, after years of friendship and more than "111" concerts at parties, bars, restaurants, festivals, and open-air events, the musicians of Otrava venture into new territory, experimenting with new line-ups, new repertoire, and new sounds. Their music is a blend of Balkan folk music, Klezmer, original compositions, and Roma songs. It unleashes a wild firework of joy and virtuosity, as well as melancholy, heartache, and the longing of lost love. There are beats to dance to, melodies to indulge in, pounding hearts, sparkling joy in playing, and a twinkle in the eye.

Medea

A thrilling production that gets under your skin.

Medea helped Jason in her homeland Colchis, protected him, and killed for him. He promised to love her and to live with her. They flee together to his homeland Corinth and live there on the outskirts of society, which does not accept Medea, the outsider, the barbarian, as an equal, while she welcomes Jason, the Greek hero, as one of her own. Nevertheless, the two live there peacefully for ten years with their two children until Jason, without Medea's knowledge, marries the king's daughter to rise socially.

This shakes Medea to the core of her being. The pain of the broken vow, her disappointment, and her boundless rage she negotiates publicly. She takes the audience with her in her struggle for justice to a point where even her closest confidante can no longer follow her: the murder of her own children to completely destroy Jason.

The story of Medea and Jason fascinates over the centuries: a love as great as that of Romeo and Juliet, and which also leads to catastrophe. Woman and man, love and calculation, home and alienation, right and wrong, these are the themes of the play, which begins with a promise that is broken.
