Transtraditionelles Musiklabor – Encounter III: Komprovisation

The Trickster Orchestra is dealing in the third "Encounter" of its transtraditional music laboratory with the topic "Komprovisation" – the diverse creative practices between composition and improvisation that play a central role in transtraditional music practice. To achieve the ideal of an equal plurality of approaches, styles, and timbres, it requires methods that allow these voices to be heard as unrestricted as possible. For this, collective improvisation can be a workable path. At the same time, the resulting music requires certain compositional placements as regulations.

The transtraditional music laboratory of the Trickster Orchestra is a public, experimental, and interactive work process. The audience is invited in an informal setting to be present from the beginning, to ask questions, make comments – or simply listen. At the center of five thematic "Encounters," which lead to a large festival in the spring of 2026, are questions surrounding a contemporary, transtraditional music practice.

The practice format is open to professional and semi-professional dancers and individuals with and without disabilities. Please bring water and comfortable clothing.

As part of the program series “Conjunctions – Acts of being in relation,” Radialsystem continues the format of “Embodied Practices.” In a 90-minute session, dancer and choreographer Diana Niepce invites you to a laboratory where the logics of physics that guide the body in movement are explored through improvisation.
The goal of the workshop “The Knowing Body” is to develop techniques that deepen bodily knowledge and reframe the body as a state of potentiality. Thinking of the body from within, learning to understand it in its becoming and changing creates access to comprehend its identity differently and to define it as a story and a manifesto. “The Knowing Body” focuses on improvisation, on how space is perceived and utilized, and on the gaze that allows for ideas of a hybrid body – ideas that can find their place on stage in an ironic and sarcastic manner.
