What happened there? Just over two years ago, RIAN was a much-discussed newcomer who made a name for himself with his first songs in German. One of them – "Schwarzes Schaf" – went viral in 2023 and was a taste of RIAN's breakthrough as a successful comedy influencer, showcasing his zeitgeist-driven and non-embarrassing mainstream compatibility.
With that, RIAN has also found his style: He combines German-speaking indie pop with smart comedy, always conveying a social-political relevance for a good cause in his output. His songs are cheerful gems, standing in the tradition of KAFFKIEZ, Danger Dan, Antilopen Gang, Falco, Manu Chao, or Jonathan Richman – front-facing fun and danceable, yet deep, (self-)critical, and always empathetic. The pop line from the feet to the heart to the head has rarely felt so correct.
In 2024, RIAN scored a genuine hit with "Verwandtschaftstreffen" from the same-named EP: He was nominated three times for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award and reached number one in the Austrian Shazam charts, the Austria Viral Charts, and the Ö3-Austro-Charts. The song was awarded Gold in Austria and is currently aiming for Platinum. With 15 million streams, RIAN has firmly cemented his place in the German-speaking music scene; "Verwandtschaftstreffen" is in heavy rotation on the largest radio stations and has become the life soundtrack for fans.
During the EP tour, the hit, more than his reputation as an excellent live entertainer, filled venues: After a completely sold-out "Verwandtschaftstreffen Tour 2025" and a tour finale in Vienna with over 3,000 fans, it's clear that RIAN has reached the next level. In Austria, he is recognized in supermarkets, and a fan selfie with him or “a video for the third cousin” is no longer unusual.
Also in Germany, the influx of fans and the appetite for RIAN shows is immense – all DE dates were completely sold out, including upgrades and additional shows. Therefore, RIAN announces an extensive tour for autumn 2025 and spring 2026: The artist will perform in 26 cities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland – promising even bigger shows, even more live energy, and of course, plenty of new music.
Until the tour, RIAN is intensively working on new songs – and already hints that his debut album is expected in early 2026. His blend of pop, indie, and hip-hop, combined with his cabaret-like interludes and profound lyrics, makes him one of the most exciting live acts of the year.
