Gregor Schor- Bigband - Das größte gemeinsame Vielfache
With "Am Grund," saxophonist and composer Gregor Schor presents a work that takes jazz seriously in both its freedom and its formal rigor. Gregor Schor writes with the openness of a sketching artist. The pencil replaces the conductor's baton: the lines are clearly drawn, yet they allow for correction, expansion, and spontaneity. Thus, pieces emerge that are precisely constructed on one hand, while being permeable to the handwriting of each individual on the other.
This band is not an orchestra that delivers obediently. It is a toolbox in which everything lies between surgical precision and sledgehammer. "Am Grund" is a jazz album that goes deep, but not into darkness, rather to the place where composition and improvisation, the individual and the ensemble, freedom and form meet.
