The Schleswig-Holstein musician and composer Richard Wester celebrates his 70th birthday and his 50th stage anniversary (!) with this program. The native Rhinelander began in 1976 in the then-divided Berlin with the band FirmA33, performing German lyrics with catchy rock music and brass arrangements. In the following years, he rose to the zenith of the Berlin and later national scene: He played for 10 years with Ulla Meinecke, toured with Stefan Waggershausen, and went to China with the Cologne group BAP. He played in the "Band for Africa," composed for the Grips Theater (Linie 1), and musically and live on stage met the who's who of German singer/songwriters, with countless concerts and studio recordings, including with Reinhard Mey, Hannes Wader, Julia Neigel, Heinz Rudolf Kunze, Klaus Lage, Helen Schneider, or Udo Lindenberg. Wester has released 26 of his own CD productions so far, most recently in 2022, "Fantastic Island," an imaginary island trip with 13 new instrumental songs, a film score for the mind's cinema. In addition to other cultural awards, he received the German Kleinkunstpreis together with Manfred Maurenbrecher in 1996.
In the program "70/50…Best of," he plays with his extraordinary band a cross-section of his most famous "songs without words," energetic and virtuosic instrumental music, stylistically somewhere between folk, jazz, and rock!
At the Glashaus concerts, this program will be expanded with his guests and music from the iconic Randy Newman project, from Something Special, Maurenbrecher & Wester, Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz projects, Grips Theater Linie 1, Ulla Meinecke/dancer, and much more. - Additionally, one or two surprise guests will join.
An exciting evening with great highlights in the unique ambiance of the summery glass house.
