Bayerische Weihnachtskantate - Vom Himme hoch

A Bavarian Christmas cantata by Andreas Begert featuring a Bavarian narrator, choir, soloists, strings, and piano. Christmas grounds us, we return to our homeland, meet family and friends, celebrate, enjoy, and open our hearts. Christmas connects us with our origins and our roots. This connection is also sought by musician and composer Andreas Begert from Erding in his work "Vom Himme hoch," a Christmas music composition in Bavarian language. As soon as the first notes of the music resonate, a magical journey through the Bavarian musical "Winterwonderland" begins: warm, traditional, and heartfelt, but also joyful and infused with positive energy. Zwiefacher and Polka are playfully intertwined by Begert with classical music and many beautiful earworm melodies. The passionate musician lets his feelings guide him completely, writing his music intuitively, from the gut. Emotional, sometimes calm, heartfelt, quiet, then again Bavarian-joyfully captivating. He is less interested in rules. Traditions, however, are very much on his mind. The Bavarian dialect combined with the biblical Christmas story sounds pleasant and familiar in Begert's music composition.

The composer from Dorfene, Andreas Begert, on piano, and the conductor Markus Bauer leading the ensemble with singers, string players, and soloists. Christmas-themed, joyful, contemplative, but definitely also with Bavarian humor, a Bavarian narrator connects the individual elements into a unique Bavarian Gesamtkunstwerk: A Christmas story in Bavarian, musically classically set; heartfelt, executed with flair and humor.

The composer Andreas Begert:
Andreas Begert has already gained attention through several classical works that he brought to the stage together with prestigious soloists from the Munich Philharmonic or the Bavarian State Opera and with orchestras like the Munich Symphony Orchestra. And this, despite being rejected six times for a composition study at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts. Self-taught, he began with chamber music works and made his debut in 2018 in the Blackbox of the former Gasteig. In July 2019, he followed with his first major composition for orchestra and choir, a Requiem, performed by Concerto München and the Heinrich-Schütz-Ensemble in the Carl-Orff-Saal. With his "Bavarian Oratorio," which he financed through crowdfunding and was enthusiastically received by the audience after its premiere in 2022 in the Herkulessaal with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, he has since performed on regional stages, including in April 2023 in the Basilica of Ottobeuren. Since 2024, Begert has been the artistic director of the Dorfener Festival, which takes place annually in honor of his compositional works and showcases his pieces. His Bavarian Symphony, celebrated with standing ovations, was performed in November in the Herkulessaal of the Residenz Munich by the Munich Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Begert is writing a Bavarian opera and his 2nd Symphony (Bavarian Peace Symphony / UA 2026 by Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker).
