Bastian Bandt & Jörg Naßler
Horse & House Tour
Tenderly tragicomic weighty melancholy in songs for the steel-string space guitar.
He lives on the edge of Uckermark, setting out every weekend with his guitar and a DB card to play on various stages, clubs, and festivals. He doesn’t go anywhere, but benefits from a prime location right between Wenzel, Felix Meyer, and – yes, the soloist boss Bruce. (Buschfunk).
Even on his earlier albums, Bastian Bandt has been open about his affinities. But when you hear Wenzel or Gundermann from him, you don’t hear them in place of Bandt; instead, the Uckermarker enters into dialogue with the Lusatian and the Anhaltiner. They are well cared for by him, having spoken with Hegel. In homage, in self-assertion, in contradiction. (H.-M. Klemt)
With his new album "Sad Animal," he will be referred to in the feuilletons of East Germany as one of the greats, as one of the singer-songwriters who have something to contribute to the East German search for identity. (M. Bruck)
"Pferd & Haus," the program for the tour and title of the new album, again deals a bit more with the world, politics, and their impact on the individual, yes, and with home and East German biography, great love, and the continual moving forward. Wounded, out of place, virtuoso, and with much gallows humor, Bastian Bandt sings and plays an evening that is a true comfort and a delight in language, poetry, and music. Wild, tender, and determined to mean it seriously. Without the need to endure cynicism, his audience laughs and cries through the songs, stories, and adventures of the 47-year-old songwriter, into the warm certainty of not being alone.
Bastian Bandt is a singer-songwriter in the best sense: reduced, honest, and with a fine instinct for language. His songs tell of everyday life and abysses, of closeness, loss, and quiet hope – without pathos, but with great effect. Bandt relies on the power of words and melody: acoustic arrangements, clear harmonies, and a voice that hides nothing.
In his songs, he combines classical singer-songwriter traditions with contemporary songwriting. Poetic, sometimes rough, often touching – Bastian Bandt observes closely and formulates precisely. In the process, songs emerge that leave room: for personal thoughts, memories, and feelings. Live, Bastian Bandt convinces with presence and authenticity. Between the pieces, he speaks calmly, approachable, without great staging – just like his music. Anyone who listens quickly realizes: This is not about effects, but about authenticity.
Bastian Bandt stands for handmade music that endures.
