What happened there? Just over two years ago, RIAN was an in-demand newcomer, drawing attention with his first songs in German. One of them – "Schwarzes Schaf" – went viral in 2023 and was a taste of things to come; RIAN, who simultaneously experienced a breakthrough as a successful comedy influencer, possesses a zeitgeist and unembarrassing mainstream compatibility.
With that, RIAN has also found his style: He combines German-speaking indie pop with smart comedy and always conveys social and political relevance for the good cause in his output. His songs are charming gems that stand in the tradition of KAFFKIEZ, Danger Dan, Antilopen Gang, Falco, Manu Chao, or Jonathan Richman – upfront, they are definitely funny and danceable, yet deep around the corners, (self-)critical, and always empathetic. The pop line from feet to heart to head has rarely felt so correct.
In 2024, RIAN then achieved a genuine hit with "Verwandtschaftstreffen" from the EP of the same name: He was nominated three times for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award and reached number one in the Austrian Shazam Charts, the Austria Viral Charts, and the Ö3-Austro-Charts. The song was awarded Gold in Austria and is currently aiming for Platinum. With 15 million streams, RIAN has firmly cemented his place in the German-speaking music scene, "Verwandtschaftstreffen" is on heavy rotation on the biggest radio stations and has become the life soundtrack for fans.
On the tour for the EP, the hit, but even more so his reputation as an excellent live entertainer, filled venues: After a completely sold-out "Verwandtschaftstreffen Tour 2025" and a tour finale in Vienna with over 3,000 fans, it is clear that RIAN has reached the next level. In Austria, he is recognized in supermarkets, and a fan selfie with him or "a video for the third cousin" is no longer unusual.
The fan turnout in Germany is also immense, as is the appetite for RIAN shows – all DE dates were completely sold out, including upgrades and additional shows. Therefore, RIAN announces an extensive tour for autumn 2025 and spring 2026: The artist will be seen in 26 cities across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland – promising even bigger shows, even more live energy, and of course, plenty of new music.
Until the tour, RIAN is intensively working on new songs – and already hints that his debut album is expected in early 2026. His blend of pop, indie, and hip-hop, paired with his cabaret performances and profound lyrics, makes him one of the most exciting live acts of the year.
