Schuberts Meisterwerk: die Winterreise - der bedeutendste Liederzyklus der Musikgeschichte trifft auf zwei besondere Lebenswege
The patronage of this event is undertaken by State Minister Barbara Klepsch.
Two artists. Two biographies. A shared mission:
Winterreise by Franz Schubert is more than a song cycle – it is a spiritual state of exception, an existential journey through loneliness, loss, and hope. In our interpretation, work and reality merge: The music meets two unusual life paths, each shaped by upheavals, new beginnings, and a deep passion for art in their own way.
Together we tell this Winterreise anew.
With courage. With depth. With personal truth.
A concert that not only moves musically – but strikes right into life - today, more than ever.
Stefan Bien – Baritone
Managing director of an international company in online marketing, Stefan Bien found his way back to himself after a burnout and a phase of deep exhaustion through the Camino de Santiago, painting, and finally singing. Today he lives in both worlds: business and art. "You have the duty to take this natural voice to the stage," said Thomas Quasthoff to him – and so music transformed from a refuge into an artistic calling.
He completed his vocal training, among others, at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. Significant artistic impulses he received through work with renowned personalities such as Thomas Quasthoff, Jean-Noël Briend, Tobias Berndt, and Jan Fackelmann. His repertoire ranges from Bach to Wagner – with a special love for the art song of the Romantic period. With a vocal range of three octaves, he captivates through vocal diversity, depth, and rich nuances.
Julia Aldinger – Piano
Growing up in a German-Russian musical family, she discovered her passion for the art song late – first through a student job as a score turner in song evenings by Peter Schreier. Her pianistic training led her to prestigious institutions in Dresden, Weimar, and St. Petersburg. Formative artistic impulses she received in the song classes of Christine Hesse, Karl-Peter Kammerlander, and Olaf Bär as well as in masterclasses with, among others, Amadeus Webersinke, Peter Schreier, András Schiff, and Gerold Huber.
After intense musical activity, she initially chose family – and took an unusual path: she completed a second training as a biological laboratory assistant and worked for several years at the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf in cancer research. Today she is back in music: as a lied pianist, she stands on stage again – with new depth and artistic maturity – and passes on her experience as a piano lecturer at the Landesgymnasium für Musik Dresden to the next generation.
