FLITTERN are now the Cologne duo Fabian Dellacher and Sebastian Riddle, who connect their punk socialization with contemporary pop, creating the soundtrack to the contradiction we call life.
Somewhere between ‘Wait, I know this!’ and ‘Wow, this is new!’ FLITTERN wrap their critical, also pleasantly self-critical lyrics into a grown-up version of pop-punk with a positive vibe, as they don’t want to become bitter in their niche now that punk is getting a bit risky in light of an increasingly dystopian world.
Their self-titled album released in autumn 2022 on UNTER SCHAFEN RECORDS has not only been consistently well-reviewed but has also paved the way that FLITTERN are now consistently following. In songs like ‘Do you want to go extinct with me?’, ‘Hill above the village’, or ‘Alman fear’, a lot of distortion meets a touch of autotune, which, to be honest, could sound really silly, but works really well here - both on record, streaming, or live.
Speaking of live: Here, Fabian and Sebastian bring in support from musician friends. Simply because it’s even more fun.
Change has accompanied FLITTERN since they started as a quartet in 2020 and is now creatively reshaped: FLITTERN turns the limitations of a duo in songwriting on its head and collaborates with drum machines and AI. You might appreciate this or not, but, if you will, it is DIY after all.
Sure, there are a hell of a lot of talented bands working their asses off right now. Luckily, FLITTERN don't have to and don't want to become rockstars. It’s also not about calming their conscience in advance because in 20 years the question will arise why we did nothing 'back then’. No, FLITTERN make music to hopefully enjoy the fact that we all somehow made it together in 20 years.

‘Depression in the rearview, why am I not happy?’ With his debut EP ‘feels.zip’, he amazed both the audience and press in 2021 – Frontstage Magazine compares him to Edwin Rosen, Stanovsky, and Lostboi Lino, ‘only that Leevo gets the best out of all of them’. Leevo touches. His past as a songwriter and vocalist in the post-hardcore scene repeatedly shines through his shimmering, wavering pop attire that he has woven from the entire spectrum of DnB through wave to punk. With his heart on his sleeve, he creates the soundtrack for a generation living somewhere between euphoria and melancholy, frustrated, in love, and lost in the day. From all these ingredients emerges ‘a mixture that fits perfectly into the spirit of the times, without bowing to trends,’ as DIFFUS magazine aptly describes it.
In his current EP ‘okay.’, the singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Stuttgart uses music as a way to confront the emotions, uncertainties, and thoughts that occupy him and his generation. Leevo says of his album: ‘“okay.” is a journey through my emotional world of recent years. I searched for a long time for a word that describes the moment when, after a heavy and often desperate inner struggle, I found my peace and could let go. The word is so unremarkable that I almost have to laugh every time I hear it: “okay”. But it hits exactly the core of what should remain from this album once the last note fades away: No matter who you are, no matter what is going on inside you, it is okay. And that is enough.’
