Alkaloid - mit Obsidious, Asphagor und Abstractyss - Extreme Metal
Alkaloid (D / NL, Extreme Prog Metal)
Alkaloid consists of highly decorated veterans of extreme metal (including Triptykon, Dark Fortress, Obscura, Hate Eternal, Necrophagist, Blotted Science, Spawn of Possession, Noneuclid). Their highly virtuosic music fundamentally defies all stylistic boundaries; the concepts for lyrics and artwork primarily draw from current research in cosmology, biology, and other natural sciences. Founded about 10 years ago by Hannes Grossmann and Morean in Nuremberg, the band has since been driving their artistic ascent to ever new extremes. Their much-acclaimed debut album "The Malkuth Grimoire" brought Alkaloid immediate "supergroup" status in the scene in 2015; since 2018, the no less remarkable follow-up albums "Liquid Anatomy" and most recently "Numen" have been released through Season of Mist Records.
The press rightly celebrates this extraordinary band:
“Music connoisseurs rarely get to hear an album that deeply impresses them. Alkaloid has once again created such a masterpiece with NUMEN.” (Metal Hammer, 6.5/7)
“(A) crazily complex and demanding piece of music [...], that processes more ideas in individual songs than other bands do in an entire career.” (metal.de, 9/10)
Obsidious (D/AT/ESP, Prog / Tech Death)
Obsidious also emerged in 2020 from the circle of renowned prog/death metal bands like Obscura, Panzerballett, Juggernaut, and Eternity's End. In addition to the omnipresent, genre-typical instrumental acrobatics, Obsidious' music is also characterized by flawless live performance, complex yet catchy song structures, and the integration of compelling clean vocals and elements from fusion and classic metal.
Asphagor (AT, Black Metal)
Asphagor, founded in 2007 in Wörgl, Tyrol, is now an institution in Austrian black metal after four released albums and many concerts. Their music is defined by a potent balance of atmosphere and aggression, and they do not shy away from handling a much broader musical spectrum of heaviness than is typical in black metal. As a live band, Asphagor is a force; the authenticity of their dark abysses could resurrect the dead.
Abstractyss (Passau)
“Profound tonalities entwined by dark atmosphere, a plunge into the musical madness of death metal craftsmanship.” Not only for twisted freaks but also for fans of the hard-hitting death metal wrecking ball.
