"Ich habe genug" - Seelenmusik von J.S. Bach
Two of the most impressive and moving solo cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach, BWV 82a "Ich habe genug" and BWV 199 "Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut," are at the center of this special concert and promise an evening full of intimacy, comfort, and musical depth. Monika Mauch (soprano), a prominent interpreter of Bach, has been engaged for this occasion, distinguished by her clear, expressive voice. She will be accompanied by the Sinfonietta Barock on historical instruments under the direction of Lukas Grimm.
The German soprano Monika Mauch studied with Richard Wistreich in Trossingen, Jill Feldman in Paris, Rita Loving in Munich, Kai Wessel in Cologne, and Kimberley Brockman in St. Gallen. The soloist, particularly trained in baroque performance practice, sings baroque, classical, and romantic oratorios, operas, motets, and cantatas around the world; however, her special love lies in solo singing in an ensemble. She performs with Ensemble Daedalus, Collegium Vocale Gent, the Hilliard Ensemble (ECM recording 'Morimur'), Cantus Cölln, CordArte Köln, Caprice, Montréal Baroque, les Cornets Noirs, Private Musique, La Galanía, Capricornus Ensemble, Hamburger Ratsmusik, and many others.
The ElztalSinfonietta Freiburg was founded under Prof. Schweizer with the Daxer couple in December 2002 in Freiburg to create an ensemble that performs in various chamber music formations as well as a symphony orchestra, distinguished by musical flexibility with significant professional design power. The orchestra mainly consists of freelance, professional musicians, all experienced in baroque/historical performance practice. Subsequent projects included those as part of the Glottertäler and Staufen Horn Days, in the municipal and church concert series of Gengenbach, as well as in collaboration with choirs from the region (including Freiburg Chamber Choir) and concerts in the broader area.
Since the founding of the orchestra until 2012, the musical direction was held by Prof. Rolf Schweizer. Since then, Lukas Grimm has taken over the artistic direction of the orchestra.
Lukas Grimm (*1986) studied church music and organ improvisation at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. After obtaining his master’s degrees, he completed a study in orchestral conducting at the University of Music Karlsruhe, which he finished with distinction in April 2014. As a conductor, Lukas Grimm has already worked and performed with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Philharmonie Baden-Baden, the RIAS Chamber Choir, as well as the choirs of NDR and MDR. Engagements have led him, among others, to the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Badische Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and the Volksschauspiele Ötigheim. During the Asian and European tours of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra in 2018 and 2019, Lukas Grimm took over the preparation of the choirs on-site for René Jacobs. Since 2013, Lukas Grimm has been the artistic director of the Freiburg Chamber Choir and the ElztalSinfonietta Freiburg.
