Michael Harms, initiator and moderator of the reading series, recently experienced firsthand what the dementia of a close family member can mean for life, and immediately felt that Katrin Seyfert, with her highly relevant book and her open personality, can inspire and provide emotional support to many people.
Katrin Seyfert accompanied her husband through his Alzheimer's disease for five years.
He was in his early 50s when he received the diagnosis, a doctor and father of five children.
She organized family life, finances, and the care services. Finally, the funeral.
Brutally honest and unflinchingly, she tells how it feels when the partner gradually loses their language and thus their identity.
How she grapples with the role that is attributed to her first as a caring wife, then as a widow.

The VHS Hildesheim is pleased to present Katrin Seyfert as part of the "Mut" reading series.
The reading will be followed by a very personal interview with Katrin, giving special consideration to the psychological, family dynamic, and societal aspects, conducted by Michael Harms, who, as a alternative practitioner for psychotherapy and coach, supports people in difficult life situations. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and actively participate.
At the end of the event, Katrin will sign her books.
