Klingende Residenz: Hymnen an die Nacht
For the 17th edition of the "Klingende Residenz," a musical-literary night journey awaits you in the magnificent Ahnensaal of the Baroque residence in Rastatt, featuring the internationally renowned Vocalensemble Rastatt, the pianistic accomplice Anne Le Bozec, professor at the Conservatoire supérieur de Paris, and Elisabeth Verhoeven, speaker and moderator, among others at WDR in Cologne, who was last a guest at the Klingende Residenz with the theatrical music for Goethe's Faust. The direction is handled by Holger Speck, founder and artistic director of the Vocalensemble Rastatt and professor at the State University of Music Karlsruhe.
"… deeper than the day conceived," Nietzsche philosophizes about the phenomenon of the night; it has always been a projection and illusion space for humans, a world of dreams, escape, and longing. Musicians, painters, and poets have felt a magical attraction to it and dedicated to it, in the truest sense, fantastic works. And isn't the world, especially in our time, heavily reliant on the unusual and visionary?
Choral and piano music will be performed, among others, by Fanny Hensel, sister of Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, whose very popular choirs "In Still Night" or "The Moon Rises Stealthily," but also the ghostly "At Night" or Robert Schumann, whose famous "Träumerei" is, of course, a must. Elisabeth Verhoeven recites corresponding texts from, among others, Eichendorff, Brentano, or the titular Novalis.
