The international peace concert “Give Peace a Chance” marks the end of the anniversary year “180
Years King of Violin – 180 years of violin king August Wilhelmj,” which began on 21.09.2025 in the
Usingen Laurentius Church on Wilhelmj’s birthday with the opening concert.
Under the patronage of Wiesbaden’s Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende, the concluding concert unites
internationally renowned artists to create a moving musical symbol for peace and humanity.
The award-winning Dutch violin soloist Yvonne Smeulers will perform alongside the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the young Ukrainian conductor Juliia Harbovska. Due to the Russian invasion war, the Ukrainian top orchestra lives in exile and sees itself as a cultural ambassador of its country. With its concerts, it sets a sign of solidarity worldwide and draws attention to the situation in Ukraine.
Additionally, the Young Chamber Choir Wiesbaden – concert choir of the Protestant Singing Academy – will participate.
Cooperation partners for the event include the Partnership Association Wiesbaden * KamjanezPodilskyj, which enriches the event with a diverse supporting program and the Ukrainian chamber choir Gloria Cantus conducted by Petro-Pavlo Tkalenko for concert visitors, as well as the Luther Church Wiesbaden.
The power of music connects people across borders and invites everyone to set a sign for peace, reconciliation, and mutual understanding together.

Additionally, the Hochtaunus Transport Association (VHT) offers a free bus transfer from Usingen to the Luther Church Wiesbaden and back.
