His sound is distinctive, his soundscapes are detailed and eventful, his concern is formulated in a very personal musical language. His new album is called "EGIS" - an album that brings all his skills to the point, comes across as joyful and exciting - full of different stories, highly concentrated and filled with a lot of energy. Sebastian Studnitzky lives in Berlin, is a sought-after and distinguished sideman on international stages (among others with Nils Landgren and Jazzanova) and is at home in many music styles. With his trio formation (Paul Kleber on double bass/Sebastian Merk on drums), the trumpeter, pianist, and keyboarder Studnitzky has developed his very own sound: it is jazz - and it is much more. It is music in which great emotions unite with consistent reduction and make many things audible and tangible. Whether on the trumpet or at the piano, his songs are characterized by his unusual, highly individual tonal coloring: soft, flowing, and understated, but no less intense and penetrating - disarmingly simple and immediate.

Patrick Siben was already passionate about all kinds of music as a teenager, without adhering to genre boundaries, and founded the Stuttgarter Saloniker with the goal of preserving handmade salon music by pure practice for today. Initially, the almost vanished literature of the bourgeois salons of the turn of the century had to be secured for an authentic reproduction. The arrangement of works from the romantic period or the turn of the century or the Roaring Twenties reflects the artistic freedom and joy in the emerging modernity of the so-called Fin de siècle. The orchestra possesses well over 12,000 pieces in their original settings and continually performs this inexhaustible variety, varying it constantly in the regions of Württemberg, Baden, and the Palatinate.
The ensemble itself consists of professional musicians who perform in various formations for classical salon music, dance music, and with special settings for tango, jazz, and Latin, sharing similar feelings and thoughts with their conductor, who plays the piano as a jack-of-all-trades, moderates, and occasionally conducts from there.

Subtone is one of the greatest hopes that the German jazz scene currently has to offer. Barely three years after its foundation, the five members have already given over 100 concerts at home and abroad, performed at world-famous festivals such as Jazz Baltica, and toured as the opening act for Dave Holland, Al Foster, or Steve Coleman in the Czech Republic. Trumpeter Magnus Schriefl has already shared the stage with Randy Brecker, while saxophonist Malte Dürr-schnabel was the lead alto saxophonist in the German National Youth Jazz Orchestra for many years. This impressive frontline is supported by Florian Höfner, Benjamin Hiesinger, and Peter Gall, one of the most experienced rhythm sections in Berlin. Regarding their debut CD "High Tide," released last summer, Till Brönner writes: "Five fabulous soloists all leave their egos at the studio door to contribute to something greater. [...] You can hear astonishing craftsmanship, deep respect for jazz tradition, and something much more important: An independent European narrative." Roland Spiegel adds in the Jazzzeitung: "Just sit back and enjoy: the members of this young German quintet write beautiful, delicate, and concise compositions. In a (mostly) very classic lineup with trumpet, saxophone, and rhythm section, they also prove themselves as highly competent soloists."

Music can become addictive – that's nothing new. Unfortunately, still relatively unknown but with an extremely high addiction factor, the Paderborn post-rock quartet Suchtmaschine comes along. A band name could not be more appropriate, as Suchtmaschine play almost mechanically on their EP Kra! somewhere between Explosions in the Sky, Pelican, or Mono. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of room for their own ideas: In addition to the usual post-rock instruments, additional musicians with saxophone, violin, and piano are also busy, occasionally giving the songs a touch of jazz. Drummer Sebastian Sperl stands out particularly positively, convincing with enormous precision and occasionally reminiscent of John Stanier (Editor's note: former drummer of Helmet, now with Tomahawk and Battles). It's hard to pick a real favorite on Kra!, as the EP works best as a whole. The guys take a step towards Norway on "Ich sähe ein Schlachtfeld," as the saxophone is part of the basic equipment in post-rock there, and bands like Supersilent or Jaga Jazzist come to mind for comparison. Through occasional spoken passages, Suchtmaschine also create a very unique atmosphere, and in this context, "Kräuterboy Ahoi" may well be mentioned as another highlight. Piano and orchestral-sounding guitar walls work so well that one almost has to ask how these instruments could possibly do without each other. A great EP from a band that should definitely be kept an eye on and can confidently be placed alongside favorite albums. Rating: + + + + (Christian Bethge) www.regioactive.de

The band Tailgunner was founded in December 2008 and has since 2010 played a variety of successful performances in the Rhineland and Ruhr area. In its current formation, the band consists of Saskia (vocals), Stefan (drums), Manuel (bass and vocals), Thomas (guitar), and Holger (guitar and vocals).

They mainly cover rock and pop songs, ranging from the 70s to current hits, both in English and German, from ballads to hard rock. They play what is fun for the band members and the audience, adapting the songs to their own style rather than focusing on playing them exactly as the originals.

They particularly enjoy rearranging pop songs with new interpretations and a lot of energy, without losing their recognizability.

The band members do not consider themselves a traditional party band, but their performances always turn into a party where the audience gets involved and gladly becomes the background choir.
