"What do Freddie Mercury (Queen), Sting, Roger Glover (Deep Purple), Chris Norman, Sheryl Crow and Udo Lindenberg have in common? They all trusted the musical genius of Paul Vincent and the musicians of his band Vincent Rocks. Together with Mick Brehmen, Dieter Stümpfl and Oliver Gunia, Paul Vincent shows what a real rake is, of course with a lot of original material."
Paul Vincent has been active in the international rock scene since the early seventies. He shared the studio and stage with the big names, although he was usually seen or heard in the background. He was a member of Udo Lindenberg's Panikorchester, played all guitars on "Mr. Bad Guy," Freddie Mercury's solo album, toured with Eric Burdon, and was the musical leader of the Wolle Kriwanek Band for 28 years. In addition, he composed music for numerous TV productions.
Most people have probably heard Paul Vincent's music at some point: whether in series like "Auf Achse," "Tatort," "In aller Freundschaft," or in films like "Der Schrei des Schmetterlings." For the soundtrack of the latter, Paul Vincent even received the German Television Award in 2001.
Now, Paul Vincent steps into the limelight with his band Vincent Rocks. After the sudden death of Wolle Kriwanek in 2003, the musicians of his band decided to continue making music together. With Vincent Rocks, they combine elements from over 250 years of music history into a unique rock blend.
In the band's current program, you can hear their original pieces as well as newly arranged Beatles songs and Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik," seamlessly transitioning into Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" - or a blues version of Brecht-Weill's classic "Mack the Knife."
"What Paul Vincent, along with bassist Mick Brehmen, drummer Dieter Stümpfl, and organist Oliver Gunia showed on stage went far beyond any pop-meets-classic or classic-goes-pop stories heard before," wrote the Neue Westfälische in a report on a concert in March 2007.
Until now, only two EPs by Vincent Rocks have been available at the band's concerts. Those hinted at the band's broad musical spectrum. With "American Girl - Live," the band's first complete album was released. The twelve tracks were recorded live at the band's concerts and mixed by Uli Eisner so that listeners can almost smell the stage sweat and the stuffy club air that surrounded the five musicians during their concerts all over Germany.
