Tarun's music and artistry have been described as "remarkable" (All About Jazz, USA), and his debut album "Sacred World" has been referred to as "a guidepost for the future of jazz in India" (Time Out Magazine). Tarun's fearless and imaginative compositions can be heard on his albums "Sacred World," "Dharma," and "The Shape of Things to Come," which have been featured on WNYC, BBC, GQ, Rolling Stone India, hr2-kultur, Red Bull Music, and CLASH Magazine. He has performed on various local and international stages, including the Magnetic Fields Festival, NH7 Weekender, Roskilde Music Festival, Serendipity Arts Festival, and the Jazz Café in London, to name just a few.
In his live performances, Tarun Balani seamlessly combines the finesse, controlled volatility, and discipline of jazz with Indian, acoustic, and electronic elements, creating a powerful and moving musical experience.
