FOOLS GARDEN in Erdmannhausen
What do a taxi driver in Oman, his Pakistani, Indian and German passengers, Colombian English teachers, cover bands in the Maldives, Indonesian TikTokers, and about 300,000 people listening daily on Spotify have in common?
Probably they can all sing along to these lines:
„I wonder how, I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree“
What Fools Garden frontmen Peter Freudenthaler and Volker Hinkel created in 1995 is nothing less than one of the very few global hits to come from Germany. Whether on the radio or through streaming services, whether live in a hotel bar or at home on CD: This song is surely played at least ten times per second somewhere in the world.
With such impressive superlatives, it's easy to forget that Fools Garden has also brought another five singles into the Top 100 of the German charts since the all-dominating lemon tree in 1995, released eight albums, and played countless successful concerts worldwide.
A highlight of their impressive career was the album Dish of the Day, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. A live recording and documentary about it will be broadcast on SWR.
The trio featuring Peter Freudenthaler will present a wide repertoire of the band's history on November 15th in Erdmannhausen, at the Catholic Church of St. Martinus, as part of their 2025 tour “Fools Garden - Electro-Acoustic Session.”
Once again, there will be rocking, humming, or singing along, as if the last 30 years were just a day, and some can feel young, wild, and carefree again like in 1995 when a German band from Pforzheim set out to conquer the world.
