What if the economic miracle after World War II had not taken place in Germany, but in Turkey instead? What if German guest workers had helped to rebuild Turkey – and not the other way around? This exciting thought experiment forms the basis of the play.

In scenes in German and songs in Turkish, "Istanbul" tells a tragicomic story of the search for happiness, love, and home. The songs of Sezen Aksu, the founder and Grande Dame of Turkish pop, serve as inspiration for the play.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the demolition of the city wall of Trier in 2025, an exhibition at the city museum deals with the city wall and the development of the city. Starting from the remnants of the wall that came to light during excavations in the cellar of the Simeonstift during the construction work for the extension, which clearly shows the intertwining of antiquity, the Middle Ages, and modernity, the exhibition connects to the time of the wall's demolition and the present.

Artist meets trio. With live drawings and chansons by Marlene Dietrich, Friedrich Hollaender, from The Threepenny Opera to the Comedian Harmonists, Robert Nippoldt and the Trio Größenwahn take you on a powerful visual and auditory journey through time.

A tempting voice, a lively bass, a swinging piano. This is music that makes your feet want to dance - and so do the brushes! And indeed they do:
Live before the eyes of the astonished audience, they rhythmically conjure a playful dancing couple onto the white canvas. The brushes are skillfully guided by Robert Nippoldt and are not the only drawing tools that have their appearance in this special interplay of music and art. With chalk, pencil, and ink, the stars of the Weimar Republic are resurrected in a few moments and the Gedächtniskirche regains its roof. Thanks to the camera and large projection, the audience is up close - to every stroke the artist's hand casually brings to paper.

The drawings projected onto the canvas during the show are just a part of the diverse repertoire. Impressively, a paper-cutting production of Brecht's Pirate Jenny is created - in perfect symbiosis of sound, acting, and image. The Comedian Harmonists dismantle a concert grand piano in a visible and audible ecstasy. One strolls with open eyes through the capital, and a slapstick number pays homage to the beginnings of sound film.

It is also amazing how in just three minutes one can get to know all the chancellors of the Weimar Republic. All this is brought to life, commented on, and inspired by the three fabulous musicians of the Trio Größenwahn, who breathe new life into the classics of that time with verve and humor. Even an original antique keyboard experiences a surprising second spring under the nimble hands of singer Lotta Stein. It is the lifestyle of a special time between the world wars, to which the four stylishly dressed artists dedicate themselves this evening.

A time that has lost none of its charm and welcomes us with open arms. If we follow this invitation, we will have a glimmer of what it might have felt like back then - in the Roaring Twenties - at the end of this delightful excursion.

The Criminal Dinner 'The Polterabend Killer' - this is a delicious course menu in a stylish ambiance framed by an exciting criminal case, which will take place at the Hürner, Hotel-Brauhaus in Ansbach.

Madlen and Dennis' polterabend is supposed to be an unforgettable highlight. With friends, relatives, and colleagues, the young couple wants to celebrate their upcoming wedding.

However, in the middle of the celebration, a terrible incident occurs. A rather important guest has been murdered. Luckily, the bride's father Hans-Peter Windisch is a police sergeant and hobby hunter.

Together with his friend Detective Inspector Schimpanski, he wants to apprehend the culprit to save his daughter's polterabend.

With a lot of humor, they start their investigations. Will the two detectives succeed in solving the case?

Germany's number 1 musical star, Uwe Kröger, rages as the disfigured, feared, and internally torn Phantom in the catacombs of the Paris Opera. Christine (world star Deborah Sasson) is torn between her childhood love, Count Raoul de Chagny, and her mysterious mentor, whose help gives her voice a captivating beauty. Audiences and the press everywhere celebrate the interaction of the two lead actors. "I know whom I love, now I must know whom I must hate." A sentence that encapsulates the delicate love triangle of the world-famous story of "The Phantom of the Opera." Since 2010, the musical production by Sasson/Sautter has captivated audiences on stages across Europe. The forced break of the Corona pandemic was creatively used to completely revise the production musically. British musician Ryan Martin, who composed and arranged music for Cirque du Soleil, America's Got Talent, Netflix, BBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox in the USA, was enlisted for this purpose. In addition to the playfulness of the large stage ensemble and the breathtaking music, the spectacular stage design is also fascinating. It thrives on the spectacular three-dimensional video projections of the internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Daniel Stryjecki as well as the magnificent stage elements designed and built by Michael Scott of the Metropolitan Opera in New York. The production has now been awarded the "Goldene Sonne 2023" for Best Musical by Sonnenklar.TV for the quality of the performers, music, and spectacular stage design. The role of Christine is interpreted by the globally acclaimed Bostonian soprano and Echo Klassik Prize winner Deborah Sasson. Her versatile and powerful voice is perfect for this mix of opera and musical. The Phantom is played by Uwe Kröger, who captured the hearts of the audience since his breakthrough in the role of Death in the world premiere of Elisabeth. He has played leading roles in the world premieres of Rebecca, Mozart, The Visit of the Old Lady, Heidi, and the German premieres of Sunset Boulevard, Miss Saigon, Doctor Dolittle, The Addams Family, and Napoleon on London's West End. Now, for this production, he steps into the role of the Phantom feared by the world and torn from within. Additionally, a large ensemble of selected singers, dancers, and actors from the German-speaking region is involved.

Requiem for Death

Pastor Gnadenreich, together with the members of his church choir, is looking for a new soloist after the previous one has passed away. Luckily, a fantastic artist is interested in filling the vacant position. However, an old acquaintance also has great interest in joining the award-winning choir. A competition ensues where voices become completely secondary. The surprising appearance of a wine merchant from Alsace, who should actually be serving a prison sentence, adds fuel to the fire. And so, the evening ends with a tragic demise for one of the protagonists. The culprit must now be urgently identified with the help of the guests before dessert.

The tantalizing multi-course menu is served and created by the kitchen team at the Störtebeker Braugasthaus. The thrill for the nerves and palate begins at 5 p.m., with entry from 4:30 p.m.

The Stuttgart pianist and composer Hannes Stollsteimer is no stranger to the Red Horn District. As part of the "Jakob Manz Projects," he has already performed with us. Now he is coming to Horn-Bad Meinberg with his Interfusion Quartet. In the lineup of piano, guitar, bass, and drums, the four musicians bring their own compositions to the concert, featuring both catchy melodies and diverse improvisations.
Guitarist Philipp Humburg has already played in the opening act for Pat Martino, Steve Gadd, and even Stanley Clarke. Additionally, he has won the German Rock & Pop Award. Hannes Stollsteimer has played the keys of his piano at the Leverkusen Jazz Days and at JazzBaltica. Among other accolades, he has won the "Future Sounds" award in Leverkusen and the Biberach Jazz Award. Bassist Frieder Klein plays together with Stollsteimer in Jakob Manz. In 2019, he and his 6-string bass performed with Wolfgang Dauner at the Jazzopen Stuttgart! Drummer Christin Neddens plays internationally at many festivals between Finland and South Africa. She studied drums under Peter Erskine, among others.

Since 1978, the Chiemgau Arena has been the venue for Biathlon World Cup events and has already hosted the Biathlon World Championships four times. Specifically designed for the Biathlon World Cup, the one-hour World Cup tours offer an exclusive look behind the scenes of the World Cup events, providing a unique opportunity to access areas such as the Mixed Zone, TV Compound, and Team Area, allowing participants to experience the athletes up close!

Welcome to the realm of knowledge in the Baroque era: Stepping onto creaking floorboards into the quiet grandeur of our historical library hall, one is immediately enveloped by the collective knowledge of the Early Modern period. Like stage sets in a Baroque theater, the original bookshelves jut into the space, housing around 50,000 books from all fields of knowledge. Behind unassuming book spines lie remarkable treasures, such as the first German Bible printed in America.

At the end of the 17th century, the orphanage's library was established as one of the first public libraries in Germany. Primarily through donations, book exchanges, and their own publications, the library grew so rapidly that within a few years, it was comparable to significant German university libraries. In 1728, it received its own building, which is considered the oldest surviving secular library structure in Germany. Not only in recent times has the library been visited by guests and researchers from around the world: Albrecht von Haller, Johann Joachim Winckelmann, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe all admired its bibliophilic treasures. We present a selection of them for you in rotating cabinet exhibitions in the former reading room of the library.

The Art and Natural History Chamber is considered the oldest German museum room. It was established by August Hermann Francke for educational purposes and is now once again set up according to the original museum concept of the 18th century in its historical location in the attic of the Historical Orphanage.

Eighteen richly decorated collection cabinets house approximately 3000 natural specimens, curiosities, and artifacts. They provide a unique impression of a Baroque cabinet of curiosities. Unlike modern museums, the chamber follows an encyclopedic collecting approach. A distinction is made between natural specimens and artifacts. The natural specimens are divided into rocks, plants, and animals, while the artifacts are categorized into visual arts, calligraphy, coins, everyday culture, and clothing. The goal was to create a mirror image of the world: a microcosm that made the macrocosm as the wonderful creation of God tangible.

In a series of events, art projects take place around the Art and Natural History Chamber. In the so-called "Contemporary Reflections on the Art and Natural History Chamber," foundations invite artists to engage in an artistic dialogue with the chamber.

Palace-like, the orphanage rises on Franckeplatz. Then as now, it is the centerpiece of the Francke Foundations. Erected in 1698 as the first building of the school city, it represents a new facet of European Baroque, combining confident representation without extravagant ornamentation and setting the tone for orphanage architecture.

Today, the orphanage is our museum and cultural center. Right from the start, two permanent exhibitions guide you through the history of the foundation and the global impact of Pietism. On the first floor, the former prayer and singing hall surprises with its bright architecture. Today, it enjoys an excellent reputation as a concert hall due to its fantastic acoustics. In the adjacent conference rooms, a photo exhibition showcases the impressive renovation work since the foundations were reestablished in 1991. The second floor is reserved for our changing special exhibitions, which provide insight into important themes of the foundation's history from both a historical and contemporary perspective. Passing through the art and natural history collections in the attic, you reach the balcony via a narrow wooden staircase. Here, a wide view opens up over the impressive ensemble with school buildings from three centuries. There is also a splendid panorama of the Old Town of Halle from here. In the basement, children can explore their own paths in the Krokoseum.

What power does the word have? For Halleschen Pietismus, the word was of central importance. On the ground floor of the Historical Orphanage, we show you how August Hermann Francke's reform movement could spread around the world.

Francke developed central reformative goals of Martin Luther's with Halleschen Pietismus. His approach was as clear as it was revolutionary: Every person should find God through their own Bible reading. However, for this to happen, everyone - boys and girls alike - had to learn to read, everyone should be able to afford their own Bible and it should be printed in their own native language. Therefore, Francke established schools for all social classes, printed millions of German-language People's Bibles, and created an international network through which the Bible was translated into many other languages. His educational initiative allowed a broad population to engage with the word. In the 18th-century evangelical parsonages, the authors of the Romantic and Enlightenment periods were highly regarded. A culture of self-reflection spread in Pietism, which was reflected in diaries and personal testimonies, giving us remarkable insights into the spiritual life of people of that time. Symbolically, the power of the word is also evident in the meticulously restored pulpit from the Church of St. Ulrich in Halle, where Francke preached from 1715 and which you can admire in the exhibition.

4 talers and 16 groschen are considered the founding capital of the Francke Foundations. How an unparalleled school city grew from this unexpected donation to a simple pastor in Glaucha can be discovered on the ground floor of the Historical Orphanage. A multimedia installation and numerous extraordinary objects will transport you into the fascinating founding and impact history of Francke's work. Because what began with a school for the poor and an orphanage, developed in a few decades into a true reform project that was based on education: Over 2,000 students learned in various schools, specially constructed economic buildings, a hospital, and a pharmacy guaranteed the care of over 3,000 people on the premises, unique cultural-historical collections in the library and chamber of wonders were established, and Francke's ideas were spread within and outside Europe. August Hermann Francke wanted nothing less than a "world change through personal change." Discover everything he set in motion through this.

The musical for the whole family - the sensation is perfect!
The Theater Lichtermeer with the great stage show of "Jan & Henry" is back with a new case for the meerkats.
This time, the story takes the two to Castle Piepenschlöns. Strange things are happening there, and Jan & Henry must solve many puzzles. But the biggest puzzle is the legend of an old treasure that the castle residents are feverishly searching for to prevent the imminent sale of their indebted home. Additionally, the brothers encounter Krokodella there. You will experience up close what role she plays in the puzzle and whether the two detectives will succeed in finding the treasure in our new musical for the whole family. A six-member ensemble plays, dances, and sings for you in this typical and unmistakable mix of people, puppets, and great music in a funny and exciting adventure.
After the performance, Jan & Henry will be available for autographs and photos with their audience in the foyer.
