Welcome to the middle of life! What's going on here?
Have we arrived where we wanted to go? How do we achieve satisfaction?
SWR presenter Florian Weber, in his late 40s (he says) – nearly 50 (his wife says), represents his generation in a therapy double session with the renowned psychiatrist Dr. Christian Peter Dogs. 90 minutes live on stage. This is risky, as Dogs provokes to draw patient Weber and the audience out of their shells and encourage reflection.
Where do I stand in my partnership, in my family, in my job, in my relationship with my parents, my children, my friends? What about performance, age, beauty, sex? Do I always have to be happy and smile? How do I get out of the hamster wheel that chases me through life?
In each live show, the themes change, so no show is the same as another – each session is a new game with its own unpredictable dynamics!
This time it’s about satisfaction, change, and perspective shifts!
The middle of life is not the end but the best opportunity to curiously embark on the second half. But why is change so hard for us? What truly makes us satisfied? And how can we leave old patterns behind without losing ourselves?
Host Florian Weber and psychiatrist Christian Peter Dogs talk live, honestly, and with a good dose of humor about questions that move many – but few voice loudly. An evening full of surprising insights, inspiring stories, and food for thought that lingers long after. For those who wish to not just grow older but live more consciously.
Florian Weber is a television presenter and podcast host, born in 1976. He is in the "middle of life," married and the father of three children. For SWR/ARD, he has been moderating numerous formats for nearly two decades, including the quiz show “Meister des Alltags,” “Die Landesschau Baden-Württemberg,” and the political talk show “Zur Sache Baden-Württemberg.”
He commutes for his presentations between Stuttgart and his family, with whom he lives in Chiemgau. He increasingly encounters the important questions of life, and he himself faces the challenges that his generation has to master in partnership, career, family, and friendship circles.
In the "therapy hour" on stage with psychiatrist Dr. Christian Peter Dogs, authentic, very personal conversations arise that are provocative, honest, and unusual.
Dr. Christian Peter Dogs is a doctor, psychiatrist, and psychotherapist. The 72-year-old has founded and led three psychosomatic clinics to success. His approach: free choice of therapist, because "the chemistry must be right" between therapist and patient. He currently still practices in his private practice in Lindau on Lake Constance.
Dogs applies unconventional methods that lead to success more quickly. He brings in his own history, not only listens but also provokes and confronts patients with an antithesis to encourage reflection. The "rebel of psychotherapy" questions many conventional methods of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy.
With his book “Feelings Are Not an Illness. Why We Need Them and How They Make Us Happy,” he was on the SPIEGEL bestseller list. What Dogs says about today's psychological industry, how he himself has overcome severe childhood traumas, and how he leads us to more self-determination becomes clear in the conversation with Florian Weber.
