You will indeed come this season, the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker - and they come with an exhilarating program. Nature gives humans the joy of life, and where better to experience that than in the joyous frenzy of a carnival. This is the idea behind the overture composed by Antonín Dvořák in 1892. The Violin Concerto by Tchaikovsky, premiered in 1881, was initially deemed unplayable by many violinists. Undoubtedly, this virtuosic masterpiece remains a technical challenge for all soloists and also for the interplay between solo and orchestra.
Brahms' 2nd Symphony is often described with the external label "cheerful, natural, pastoral." Those familiar with this symphony know that it is much more and evokes entirely different associations upon listening. Let yourself be transported to a thrilling celebration of romantic orchestral music.
