For years, the multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer YORK (alias York Ostermayer) was a sought-after sideman on saxophone and flute - he worked live and in the studio for established heavyweights of the scene such as Randy Crawford, Quincy Jones, Phil Collins, Mousse T., played with Jazzkantine, Bahama Soul Club, or Spice. More than 100 album productions are now listed on his website. In parallel, he worked on his own projects like the German-African "Culture Clan," with which he scored a number 1 hit in South Africa and received awards.

Triggered by the pandemic, YORK realized his passion for jazz and soul with the album "The SoulJazz Experience." With interludes and samples from the 60s film music flair, he establishes a connection to his work in theater and film and shows his secret love for DJing with scratches. His many years of experience on stage, as well as his contributions to various CD productions, give him a naturally seeming confidence. The constant balance between musical accuracy and the courage for analog playing gaps is impressive. YORK enjoys his new creative freedoms in a way that is audible and palpable. This applies equally as a composer, arranger, producer - as well as, of course, as a performing musician. And at concerts with an excellent live band.

About two years ago, York was supposed to perform with his SoulJazz project in the club, but a case of illness in the band got in the way. Now, after a long search, a make-up date has been found. We believe: Exactly the right thing for the season finale!

It must be more than the New York Zoo! That's what zebra Marty thinks on his tenth birthday. So he jumps over the fence, boards the next subway – and causes a tremendous mess.
In a roundabout way, Marty ends up with the flashy lion Alex, the constantly sickly giraffe Melman, and the resourceful hippo Gloria in the wilderness: on the beach of Madagascar. There, the four friends encounter hungry fossas, a partying troop of lemurs, and their leader, the unique King Julien. And then there are the quirky penguins, who have confused directions on their escape to Antarctica. It's going to be wild!
The musical combines the original story from the DreamWorks film with exciting, humorous songs surrounding the iconic "I Like to Move It." Under the direction of Delphine Hindemitt ("Pinocchio"), this creates the most elaborate family production in the history of the Deister Freilicht-Bühne with enchanting costumes and characters.
The play is suitable for all ages who love the crazy humor of the "Madagascar" films – from kindergarten to school to adulthood. Apart from the title line in "I Like to Move It," the songs and dialogues are in German.

An evening with Bertolt Brecht

The Threepenny Opera is perhaps Bertolt Brecht's most famous piece. It was the most successful play of the 1920s and was translated into 18 languages by 1933. However, in schools and theaters, Brecht's works are often sought in vain today.

This gap is what Sarah Schwarz wants to close.

Through the production of The Carnival of the Animals, she met the musician Erik Regul, and during the rehearsals, the two decided to continue working together.

Musical theater that goes beyond mere entertainment. With Brecht, this applies not only to the texts but also to the music.

The musical genius behind Brecht was Kurt Weill. His music was one of the first to be banned by the Nazis and labeled as degenerate.

Erik Regul manages to compress the complexity of the music, which was written for a full orchestra, into 2 musicians.

Both Regul and Schwarz are multi-instrumentalists.

In addition to the piano and vocals, 10 more instruments come onto the stage.

Since spring 2011, the group THE GREGORIAN VOICES has been on tour in Europe. Under the artistic direction of Oleksiy Semenchuk, the eight exceptional Ukrainian soloists present the musical tradition of Gregorian chant in a refined manner.

Dressed in traditional monk robes, the singers create a mystical atmosphere, taking the audience on a journey through the world of medieval sacred music - a sound world without temporal, religious, and linguistic boundaries! Experience a varied concert with a mix of Gregorian chants, Orthodox church music, and songs and madrigals from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. With their vocal power and many solo passages, the choir and its soloists show how Gregorian chant can sound today: authentic yet contemporary.

The second part of the concert features classics of pop music, such as "Ameno" by ERA, "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban, "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan, "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, "Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel, "Sailing" by Rod Stewart, among others, which have been rearranged in the style of Gregorian chant.

From June 20 to August 20, 29 events will be held as part of the Kultursommer in the Hannover region in churches, castles, barns, parks, and gardens.
The Kultursommer kicks off with a summery-light double concert in the idyllic courtyard of Schloss Landestrost in Neustadt a. Rbge.
The young sextet Tudo Azul emerged from a liaison between the Hanoverian jazz drummer Christoph Wirz and the Brazilian dancer and singer Carolina Paludo Sulczinski. The result is their own interpretations and arrangements of Brazilian songs, which have already led them to performances in renowned jazz clubs and to become finalists for the largest jazz newcomer prize.
Musical diversity, an incomparable presence, and their incredible energy make KI’LUANDA one of the most interesting artists in Nuremberg. A lot of soul meets funk and jazz mixed with a breeze of R’n’B. Her parents are from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola, which shapes her musical roots and cultural background.
